Very Nice
I’m really impressed with my Rii i8 Bluetooth keyboard. It seems to work with every Bluetooth item I have. I have a Fire TV, and for anyone who has ever cursed at the on-screen keyboard, this is for them. It has paired to the Fire TV with no problems, and makes the Firefox browser completely functional and usable. I wouldn't try to write a book using this tiny keyboard, but it's perfect for searches and web addresses. The keyboard is larger than a game controller, but smaller than a DVD case. The lighted keys are a nice bonus when using it in a darkened room. A very nice product.

Reliable
Feels about the same to type on as the Sidekick 4G - if you liked the feeling of that keyboard, then I'd recommend this for you. I think some people might also dislike the feeling of this keyboard however, because you might expect to slide your thumbs around and type quickly like some older keyboarded phones - like the blackberry phones or the nokia n900 - but instead the buttons here require a slightly harder press that will slow your thumbs down. Now I'll discuss why this is a 5 star device: it is extremely good for the type of device it is, its features and its bluetooth functionality.I use this to essentially remote-control an extra android phone that sits at the far edge of my desk. Over a period of 6 months, I used this to: 1. switch on the phone, 2. unlock the screen -click the left mouse button from the bottom and drag upwards using the touchpad- 3. check the weather. This works every time. In fact it surprised me at one point when I had not been home for two weeks and did my whole routine again! When it requires charging, its LED indicator will let you know. When you use the touchpad, the whole keyboard will light up, and that's quite handy for finding the ESC button which is Screen-Off on an android device. And the backlight works every time.Battery life, as you might infer from my use case, is excellent; if you're used to other rechargeable wireless peripherals such as mice and headphones, you'll truly appreciate how seldom you have to charge this. It has to reconnect when you leave it alone for 5 minutes, but, who wouldn't expect that at this price? The battery is one of its selling points, it delivers. And about the touchpad - it has a learning curve that, once you get used to it, also makes the device excellent. At first I wanted to use it like a laptop's touchpad, doing taps and two-finger gestures - and this device allows it. Then, noticing that it is laggy to do those things, I instead switched to using my thumb - and the layout on this devices also allows it and in fact makes it the easiest thing. The touchpad's finish isn't great for sliding your finger on it, but it is *durable*, which means you use your fingernail or thumbnail to help with sliding - and it always works. The plastics around the whole device feel quality. The backside (or, underside) has a textured spot for grip, it's subtle yet it works. The buttons on the keyboard are solid but also have a rubberized finish, and they don't bend or wobble at all, it's a very solid feeling. The rest of the device's shell is a plastic that also has some rubberized finish. Overall the build quality makes it feel great to hold. Finally I should mention that every key you'd expect to find on a PC keyboard is present. It's reassuring to know you can always use this product as a backup input device. The Rii Mini i8+ is a quality product describable by the phrase "works as advertised", though probably exceeding that description too. I'm very glad that amazon sells it.

3 solid stars - good utility, stable, has more potential though
I got this unit to work with several devices: PS3, FireTV Stick, Raspberry Pi, Win 10 PC. So far, I've tested it with PS3 and Fire TV. On PS3, the device is OK. I did not have the experience I was expecting because the mapping of keys from the PS3 controller to the Rii was not immediately clear. More importantly, technically, I had dificulty paring the device to the PS3 and when it did pair on EVERY use, the PS3 became unresponsive after about 3 or 4 minutes and had to be power cycled. For me, this is not an acceptable application for this item.As for the Fire TV, the Rii pairs quickly and worked as expected once I figured out how to navigate. Some apps or the Fire OS give hints on the screen as to which key to press for certain actions. For example Esc is used for the Back function. I haven't yet determined which key corresponds to the Menu key on the Fire TV remote. In my opinion, this device is indispensable for using Firefox, or Silk browsers, although, driving the circular cursor takes some getting used to, and it got lost and became unresponsive a couple of time while using Firefox.I have not figured that out. It's not that big of a problem, though obviously the experience would be better without this particular feature.I will update my review wafter I try it on the Pi and PC.About the unit. Overall, I like the device, but just middling. What I like:1) Multi platform application. I can use it on several devices.2) Works as expected in most cases.3) Has a good feel to it in terms of materials although, I'm not sure how durable it is. I purchased a protection plan just in case-not sure if it will cover what might go wrong.4) So far, except for PS3, it has been stable, no connection issues.5) I like the power saving feature; it's similar to that of the PS3 controller and cuts down on inconvenient charging cycles. Since I'm used to reconnecting the PS3 controller, the short delay to wake up the Rii is not a problem. Those extra stars could be gained by improving the item in several areas:1) Higher quality manufacturing process, including inspection and testing. My unit's backlighting is fair at best, being uneven, getting dimmer from left to right. The backlight on the arrow key cluster does not shine through the "slits" on the right side of the rubberized material covering the Up Arrow and Right Arrow keys. There is enough light leakage to illuminate the keys. It seems a relatively simple test could assure unifrom backlighting. I would classify this as an annoyance that separates a good experience from a great one. I will continue to use the item, but may return it for this reason.2) The device could use some extra mass to give it it a heftier feel. I would prefer that it be slightly larger.3) The packaging could include a more documentation that explains how to use the device in various applications and that also explains the key labels, especially, the Fn key combinations.4) The BT dongle is poorly manufactured. I could not get it t fit in any USB port without feeling like I was forcing it. This is not a deal breaker for me because all the devices on which I would use the device BT (Bluetooth, sorry) equipped.5) Touchpad could be larger.3 solid stars with potential for 4, maybe 5 with some improvements.

The upgraded BT version can connect also though USB dongle
Got the upgraded version (white) (Blue and green seems to be still the old version, not sure), It is not mentioned anywhere on the amazon page, but it comes with with a 2.4GHz USB dongle. Fn-Caps to use USB, Fn-Tab to use bluetooth. It also uses the micro-USB charging port. (no more mini-USB!). The "prev/next" buttons are good to use on YouTube. It is comfortable in hands, and the key click feels good alsoMiss the "search' button. LED light a bit too bright. Keyboard backlight is no longer adjustable, but brightness is right for me.There is one nuisance, if putting device into pairing mode using the BT button, it will have a new MAC address, meaning all previously paired devices need to redo the pairing. To avoid that, when switching BT connection between devices, need to initiate the disconnect from currently connected device, not from the keyboard.
