This is a great little ash rake that I use for my midsize wood-fired oven. I just wish it was about 12-16" longer. That way I could also use it to move coal beds during the process. Is there a middle extension piece that you sell? I'd be interested in that.

I ordered this item as what I thought would be a simple solution to pushing hot coals to the side of my woodfired pizza oven. 25 inches seemed like a good enough length in order to get the coals moved without sticking my hand too far into the oven. I ordered my first item, which showed up and the handle piece did not have female threads. So, I was unable to connect the two pole pieces together. Completely useless. I figured this was a fluke so I requested a return and replacement. The second item showed up and the handle was completely different than the first, with a miniature piece of hard plastic, about an inch long, as the “handle.” Needless to say, holding onto a metal pole while raking coals it’s probably going to transfer heat relatively quickly, which is ridiculous. Again, completely useless. In addition, referencing my picture, you can see that their claim of 25.2 inches is actually just over 20.As a man I know the strategy of claiming that your shaft is longer than it really is. But exaggerating by 5 inches is risky. My wife even commented that she would prefer 5 additional inches on the shaft when I use it to slide in and out of the oven.Long story short is I do not recommend this product. It is a cheap product that’s not worth the money. It’s only 17 bucks but still. Look elsewhere and do not support this manufacturer.

We were pleastly surprised at the quality of this little fireplace rake. It has a nice weight to it and it is not flimsy. Works great pushing and pulling the coals around. Great purchase.
