Asterix and the Goths: Album #3 (Adventures of Asterix) Review: Here are the Goths - Asterix and Obelix are classic in comics. The story is still great, the jokes are even better then before. I use these to read to my younger child and she loves the duo and their adventures. The font is easy to read for the most part, with exception of the Gothic. It is a bit more difficult, but still very doable. Review: Asterix and the Goths - What can I say? I buy the Asterix books for my middle school sons who adore them. They were first introduced to them when they were in grade school, by some friends from France. I was always an anti-comic book mom, but how can I complain when world history is thrown into the story? Both boys (ages 12 and 14) read and reread all of the titles we own. We have the paperback versions and the bindings are very sturdy and hold up to all the wear and tear and usage. They love 'em!

So excited these are available on Amazon!
We had this whole collection when we were kids and our parents sold them in a garage sale to our great disappointment. We've thought about how much we enjoyed these books as kids and wished we still had our copies. Just found them here and I'm giving them to my siblings for Christmas. So excited! The paperbacks are good quality - they seem to be "hardier" than I remember them being back in the day. Covers are thick shiny cardstock and not paper thin. Colors are vibrant and clear.

Had to have it!
Several people in my family are history fanatics, and the subject got onto the Germanic tribes and their migration the other day, which reminded me of this--everyone talking of the visigoths, the ostrogoths, the franks, the angles and the saxons... You get the idea. One of our number had never read this, so guess what I ordered him for Christmas! (Of course, I'm hoping to suck him into the entire series eventually...) Humor at its best.

Greatest series ever!
Anything I can say about these books will be less! Just don't read the text; read the pictures!!

Must read
I loved reading them as a kid. I bought them for my son and he loves reading them rather than play video games. The comics are big like the original and not like the new Tintin Volumes which have microscopic fonts.

Asterix, Obelix, Getafix And The Goths
The third volume in the fantastic Asterix series is a barnstormer. Our Gaul heroes, Asterix and Obleix, escort the druid Getafix to the annual druid get-together and contest. Getafix is the mystic responsible for the potion powering our heroes and, unsurprisingly, is in, er, great demand. What the invading Romans wanted in Volume I Asterix the Gaul: Album #1 (Asterix (Orion Paperback)) so do the Goths from Germania who are called Barbarians even by the Gauls. Enter a group of Gothic marauders. Follow Asterix and Obelix intent on retrieving their man. There really is little need to tell you how much action, fun and humour will follow. Asterix And The Goths is a cauldron of fun brimming with history and adventure. We meet the Goths from Germania who beat up the Romans with as much ease as the Gauls. The Gothic font used when the Goths speak is a nice touch. We meet all manners of European druids with magical capabilities. We meet fantastical characters with fantastical names. Speaking of which, the English translation of this 1963 comic book takes the cake. The puns, metaphors and cultural and industrial references deployed is unsurpassed. Finally, look for a special historical featurette on the, er, Asterixian Wars.

Geschichtsnachhilfe für eine US-amerikanische Freundin, die kürzlich nach Europa gezogen ist und erschreckend wenig weiß. Sie ist begeistert – wir ohnehin – und wird weiterlesen.
