Are the lights built into the center stand so as you attach the sections it also plugs in the lights or do they have to be manually plugged in?

By the way, the wattage of the lights on a lighted tree top are different that the wattage of the lights on a tree, so as a general rule, a lighted tree top should never be connected to the lights sets on a tree. What are the bristles made out of? It looks like two different materials in the pictures.

There are two different types of bristles. If I remember correctly, one fuller, longer "needle" type is used in the interior of the tree to fill in spaces, so you can't see right through the tree. The other shorter "needle" type are on the outside ends of the branches.
