I have a tpms light on for my front driver side. will this read the possibly faulty sensor and program a new one if need be?

It will read the data from the sensor if it is working: if it can't read anything, you know it is the sensor and not a problem with the car's receiver. It will trigger the TPMS to send data for those cars which have a learning sequence for what sensors are where -- typically (always?) starting LF and proceeding clockwise. It will not program a sensor (not usually needed), nor will it input data through the OBD port for those cars requiring that. What is required to program the car according to the owners manual. Without that info, or at least the year and make of your car, I can't tell you whether this will work for you or not. If you haven't already read the reviews, you should do so. Your model car will probably be mentioned.Edit: Just checked the tool and it describes the procedure for each vehicle. 350Z requires a tool with OBDII connection to load the ID's.

No. TPMS stands for Tire Pressure Monitoring System.

If I buy mx-sensors will the ts401 be able to program them for my 2007 f-150? It does say it programs mx sensor but a lot of review say other wise.

First let me say, I own the 501 model. But to answer your question I would say yes if the programming capabilities are equal on the 401 especially if you want to clone OEM sensors. Compare the capabilities of the two models side by side. The list of vehicles is very extensive. The programming covers all us and foreign makes that I have ever heard. Even exotics like Bentley's, Jaquar's, etc. In addition once you register tool on Autel's website you can download an up to date list of all the vehicles you want. I opted for the TS501 model for diagnostic feature's and OBDII access of the TPMS on the vehicles. Later Hope this Helped Gary

The ts401 comes with 90% of the info you need but not resetting the dash light. Most cars need the problem corrected first so if you have a bad sensor you can find it, swap it and follow the relearn procedure once that is done most lights will go off
