Absolutely incredible! Real letters from real children all over the world. Some are just cute and dear; others are astounding in the "largeness" of the questions asked. But the really extraordinary thing is how the Holy Father responds to each child in a way that seems both at his or her level but also often wonderfully profound. NEVER does he talk down to the child and since children evidently often have the same tough questions in their heart that adults do, adults will also enjoy this book. One of the treasures of my life was sitting with my Mom just before Easter and reading this book with her. Mom has advanced dementia and it's amazing to me that she can still read, pretty well in fact. But it was also obvious that these questions were so carefully collected -- chosen by the Pope himself -- and replied to that my Mom "got it". She can't tell you her birthday and she's forgotten her husband of 60 years she could read, smile and comment on these letters. What a privilege to share them with her!

Beautiful messages
Gave this book as part of a First Communion gift to our 9 year old grandson . Well- selected letters/ topics from kids around the world. Beautifully illustrated with children’s own work. Very inviting to read. Even though hesitant to embrace it immediately, I think our grandson was intrigued and will read it in the privacy of his own room. Pope Francis has such a warm, compassionate and friendly way of responding to each question.

Excellent book for a religions gift!
I bought this book for my son's friend for his 1st Communion. Wow. It's so precious! The questions that kids ask Pope Francis are so honest and heartfelt, and he answers these questions in a realistic way that my 6 year old could understand very well. (I bought another copy of it for my kids when I saw the one I bought as a gift!). It's really a nice way to read a page or two and open up the conversation with your child about some of life's most difficult questions to answer. There are some questions that are not deep, such as "What did you like to do when you were a kid?", but that doesn't matter. It adds some levity to the book and also lets children see that Pope Francis was also a child, he is a human being to makes mistakes, who has frustrations, etc... and so that is a good thing.

First communion gift
This book was perfect for questioning young minds. Relatable for kids. Not all questions were religious- like does Pope enjoy soccer? But some questions are ones even adults ask. Presented in a sweet way with the kids' handwritten letters, pictures, and then Pope's response on facing page.Great first communion gift.

What a wonderful and powerful book this is
I admit to being a big fan of Pope Francis. I received my copy of Dear Pope Francis this afternoon and sat down and read it. What a wonderful and powerful book this is. The some times profound and sometimes moving and most often simple questions of children from around the world and the loving and caring response given by Pope Francis brought tears to my eyes and moved my heart. It is a book I will share with my 7year old granddaughter but also with anyone who wants to learn ways to deepen their love of God. I can see it being used with children in a classroom - taking one question at a time to read and discuss. I can also see it used by those who give sermons directed at children. If you want some answers to the questions - Why are there not as many miracles anymore? What did God do before the world was made? And one of my favorites Do bad people have a guardian angel too? You will find the answers from Pope Francis in this book. The illustrations were done by the children who asked the question and are beautiful. Great book.

Beautiful treasure of a book- one warning would have been nice
This is a beautiful book with letters from children all around the world with their questions for Pope Francis about God and Religion. I enjoyed reading this book with my children, it is so clear from Pope Francis' responses how dearly he lives and understands children. I love how easily he relates to them. I feel bad for taking off one star but feel I have to. One of the responses the Pope gives to a letter from a child asking about if non believers still go to heaven, his Holiness brings up suicide. I was not prepared at bedtime reading to have to explain the concept of suicide to my young children and had I known ahead of time would have skipped that page. My hope in writing this review is not to dissuade others from purchasing it for their children, but rather as a warning so you are not unprepared when reading it with your kids.
