This is what I've been missing! Brought a 27 year old Henckels paring knife back to life. I had been using the honing rod that came with the set, but we use the paring knife too much. We have brought a couple often-used knives to a local sharpening service with great results early on, but that's not as convenient as sharpening at home. I've sharpened it on a variety of whetstones through the years and it was serviceable, but after 20 alternating passes each side on this, followed by the honing rod, brought the knife back to like-new cutting! It is important to clean all surfaces of metal grindings after sharpening and again after honing. It has also worked wonders on the chef's knife and the others which came in the block. The bonus garden tool sharpener yielded good results with a couple gardening tools I tried it on. I definitely recommend this product!

Amazing blade. Cuts thru a pork loin like soft butter. Chops and diced vegetables with ease. Cutting wafer thin slices of beef chuck roast for making cheese steak no problem.

I wanted a different way of sharpening my knives besides a whetstone. This tool worked well on different knives, giving me a decent edge right out of the box. Worked well on my chef's knife as well as my pocket knife.

Works wonderfully. I bought it to sharpen the older knives and it worked great. I LOOOOOVE that it came with an extra little thingy to sharpen older duller knives. Holey mackerel... that thing by itself is worth $10 all by its lonesome.

My knives have never been sharper. Have a paring knife that I could never put a sharp edge on, and what little bit of sharp it would take, it never lasted 2 days. It is wonderful now, this is the best sharpener I have ever owned. Very pleased with this one, and it’s easy to use.

bit more aggressive than a normal steel, which is the point (pun intended) but takes some getting used to. sort of half way between a typical hone (steel) and a sharpener. So, being off slightly on the angle can make it worse rather than better. that said, with practice you can get a nice sharp hone.
