Ok, I am a retired chemist and this is THE BEST mortar and pestle I've EVER used!! I mean this is laboratory, pharmacuetical quality, perfection!!! It's MASSIVELY large, beyond sturdy, weighs nearly FIVE POUNDS, and the grinding surface on both the mortar and the pestle is NOT smooth but creates perfect friction and contact. This thing is so solidly made and well crafted I will NEVER have to "go lightly" on it. This thing will be able to handle whatever I throw at it. Plus it will handle everything in one attempt. I won't have to grind each ingredient separately and then mix. I can throw everything into this at once and go to town! Plus this thing is an art of beauty. I am so thrilled with this purchase. It was packaged securely, and not a scratch or crack on it when it arrived. Also, there were these cute little bookmarks included as a thank you!!!! Seriously?? So pleased with this company.

It is just the right size to corral the campden tablets in order to crush them as needed to add to wine must. It has some weight to it although it’s only 4 to 5” tall. Looks like good quality and would also work good for crushing herbs. Seems to be a good price for this mortar & pestle set.

This is a lovely mortar and pestle set, made of quality materials, is a good size and shape, and is extremely functional for grinding seeds, herbs, avocados, etc. It looks great on my countertop and is a very nice addition to my kitchen.

A beautiful marble. A convenient size . Please compare to the small coffee mug. Very smooth on the outside, rough on the inside, but rinsed clean! I wish the pestle were a bit longer for more leverage. Both are of heavy material, but the item is smallish- so not too heavy for aching joints! Grinds coriander seeds and fenugreek seeds, sesame seeds well. Very charming to look at, so you can store it as a display item. I would say this is quite high quality. It is certainly much, much nicer than the mortar and pestle sets at our local International markets. Overall, I am quite pleased. but will be on the lookout for a longer pestle.

I bought this mortar & pestle to grind up large, hard pills that I sometimes have to give to my dog. The mortar & pestle easily reduces the pills to a fine powder that can then be mixed in my dog’s food. The little brush that’s included made it easy to clean off the pestle & get all the powder residue out of the mortar. The mortar is nice & deep which keeps everything contained. Both pieces are very easy to wipe or rinse off to clean. I plan to use the product for crushing spices also. The pestle is comfortable to use and you don’t have to apply much pressure. For being a utilitarian device, this product is really quite attractive, made from heavy marble, and comes with a small silicone mat, a small stiff bristled brush & a tiny spoon. Highly recommend.

If you grow your own or buy them, this little gem is ideal for breaking them down at the last minute to capture a truly fresh result. There is nothing better. Besides being beautiful, it is sturdy and promises perfect function at your behest. Also impressive to others that may be in the kitchen. If you love ultra freshness in your chow, use a pestle to create the fine seasoning that great cooks demand. Also good for buying "bottled" spices that are not already ground. They are marked on the bottle and at home, produce the same heaven as those right out of the garden. This little item will give you a bit of flair and confidence.
