Great magnet
I used this magnet to hold a bracket while I welded it to my trailer and it worked great. Super happy with it.

Replacement magnet
I am very satisfied with this purchase. It is somewhat expensive but in my opinion you get what you pay for. This is the second one I have purchased of this size. It has great holding ability and can be used in most case with one hand. I do a lot of metal fabrication and I use this size and some smaller regularly. The old one still works it is just difficult turning the handle with one hand due to years of use.

The ability to turn of the magnetic field makes them easy to clean
I work as a welder in a small fab shop, and I have found the magswitch products indispensable for my work. I purchased both the 165 and the 400, and use them routinely for set up work. The 400 is too strong and creates too much of a field to weld near, so it is used primarily to stablize pieces a couple of feet from where I'm running a bead. The 165 can be used in fairly close proximity to the weld area, as the field is not as strong. These models are not designed for high heat applications so I have to be careful how close they are to the bead, and how much heat I'm running. I usually work with thin wall square tubing so it's not that much of an issue as the heat isn't cranked up that high. I do a lot of metal cutting and grinding as well, and they help hold pieces when clamps are not possible or effective. The ability to turn of the magnetic field makes them easy to clean. They aren't cheap, but if you work with metal on a daily basis, they are worth the money. Great product!

Very strong.
I wanted to use it mount a push down clamp to but at that angle it wasn't even close to strong enough. But, that's not what its meant for.

Small, but mighty!
These magnets are great items to have in a workshop. They are generally designed for metal work, but I use them in a woodshop. Between my tool chest, tablesaw, bandsaw and other tools there is plenty of metal to make these useful in my shop. For example, I use them on my tablesaw (see pic) as a positive stop when making repeated cuts when I can't use the rip fence or other stop block. On the thick cast iron top, these magnets provide plenty of holding power for my purposes. They will not yield their full strength rating on thinner material, like sheet metal, but they perfect when used properly.I can't recommend these enough. I'm not a metalworker, so I can't comment on those specific uses. However, they work great in a woodshop. Imagine that!

Welding Near Magnets Cause Arc Blow Leading to Inconsistent Welds
Cool concept, but when welding near a magnet, the magnetic field can significantly disrupt the welding circuit by causing "arc blow," which deflects the welding arc away from its intended path, leading to inconsistent weld quality, excessive spatter, and potential defects due to improper fusion at the joint. I experienced this on several joints.I would not recommend using this product.
