Got the job done. Great product and great price.
My dad's car had been having some ABS lights come up and I needed a scanner that could read those codes. Everywhere I looked, they seemed to be expensive and more than what I needed, until I came upon this product. It got the job done, read the ABS codes and I even fixed some other codes that I didn't notice before. I also love that it has a USB port that you can use to plug into your laptop or computer which can then be used to get more detailed code descriptions or save those codes for later use through their program that you can download from the Innova website. However, there are some downsides, but considering the price and what those downsides are, it's not anything to deter you away. One thing I didn't like was that to scroll through the menu or anything alike, there's only a scroll down button. This is really terrible when you wanna get to an option or the bottom of the menu and you accidentally press the button one too many times and you pass your option or are brought back to the top of the menu. This is more of an annoyance than a problem.Another thing is that sometimes it can be a little frustrating to erase codes. To erase codes, it says it should be as simple as pressing the red erase button and following instructions until it's complete. Often this doesn't happen exactly as proposed. I will usually attempt to erase the codes and the screen will say that it has completed and codes have been erased, but if I were to check the codes again, they would still be there. I will usually have to try to erase them 2 or 3 times before it actually works. I'm not sure if that's perhaps my bad in doing something wrong or if it actually is just a slow kind of erasing thing going or something of the sort.Other than that, this OBD scanner has been great and it saved me from having to spend $100-$200 just for a scanner that will read ABS codes. When it comes to codes, this is now my go to tool.
A**O
saved $120 first use
I bought the Innova 3030 because it can be updated via the internet as future cars and trouble codes come out. I bought it for, and used it on my lil' 2000 toyota tacoma because the engine light was on. It gave me (after looking them up on-line) trouble codes 1. Air flow sensor heater circut malfunction and 2. Fuel system too lean. (I looked up the codes on engine-light-help.com)After looking up the code on Mass Air Flow Sensor, I called around the auto parts and the cheapest was $120 at a whse distributor, and $180 at O'Reily's.The last paragraph regarding the description of the Mass Air Flow Sensor at engine-light-help.com suggested that the sensor may be dirty due to age or contaminated due after market air filters. I happen to have a K&N filter that I clean and recharge with oil every 10k miles. The last paragraph suggested that I remove the sensor and clean with an electrical cleaning spray and low air pressure. I did exactly that. I took off the sensor, sprayed brake parts cleaner on the metal components of the sensor and reinstalled it.I then used the Innova 3030 to clear the trouble codes and turn off the engine light. The Innova 3030 had the red light indicated that it would not pass smog. But after I cleaned the sensor, erased the codes, turned off the engine light and drove around a while, the engine light did not come back on.I spend $53 bucks for the Innova 3030 and saved between $60 and $120.00 by cleaning the sensor as opposed to having to remove and replace the sensor and paying $120 to $180 for it.It was an easy fix and I am very pleased with the results.I highly recommend the Innova 3030 for all you back yard mechanics out there. I bought it after two weeks of shopping around. This was the best unti I could find for the price and it was very, very easy to use and just as easy to look up the trouble codes online. Had to do a little navigating but eventually found a great website. The only problem I had was that I registered twice for the Innova web site so I could access the basic report on the problem and suggested solutions. When I tried to log on after registering, it did not recognize my e-mail. I registered under both yahoo and google accounts. The web site indicated to wait for an e-mail to tell me how to log on for the first time. It has been two hours now and i have yet to receive an e-mail from innova and it still won't let me log on. But as I said earlier, I found engine-light-help.com which gave me a wealth of information regarding the trouble codes I got and it was very easy to nagivate.I highy recommend the Innova 3030 over the 3020 for you back yard mechanics out there. You can't beat the $52.95 price.Last thing. I was supposed the receive the unit on Monday, but it arrived on Saturday. I tracked in via the USPS website. I was very pleased to have received it two days early.
