Hot Max 24184 Aluminum Brazing Flux for Welding

Truly remarkable stuff. I always resisted trying to gas weld aluminum figuring it was impossible but this flux makes the impossible - possible. The really nice thing is that you can gear full penetration on blind welds when using flux. When you tig weld, there is usually a lot of rough oxide and inadequate penetration without backup gas or a chill plate. Anyway, I fully recommend this flux for those aluminum where you don’t have access to a tig or need full penetration on blind joints

I am not sure how to rate it. It seemed to work ok. I still had issues with the brazing job I was doing, but I don't know if the issue was the flux or not.

I had to go to the how to internet, to find how to use this product. I still think i'm doing something wrong. Trying to contact the seller, was redirected to a sight with no reference to this product. I'm sure this product works great, it will work better with some instruction.

This stuff made a huge difference when brazing aluminum with brazing rods. Be sure to thoroughly heat your base metal, use MAP gas rather than propane, and be patient. Brazing with MAP gas isn’t easy but it works for small repairs if you don’t have a TIG welder.

when you put if over a clean piece of aluminum.. (brushed) and you heat it until it gets liquid... it doesnt flow into all the aluminum as it should... it kind of just stays in one place... if you then put the aluminum rod on that.. it beads off like water.. if you just use the rods with no flux.. they stick just fine.... they just dont flow into the holes like things with flux.. You cant return this since is a hazardous material.. so there... buy.. fail and keep it. May as well include a free kick in the balls with purchase..
