Great knife for the money!
I have had this knife over 3 years now and it’s been a pleasure to use in the kitchen. It came with a good sharp edge for the start and I have maintained the blade with simple sharpening over the years. It’s a great size and shape for a do it all knife. The handle is of good quality and feels nice in the hand. If you leave it wet for a day or two after say washing and not drying it can show a few spots of orange rust but this rubs off easily and I have never seen any damage from this. The box if comes in is nice quality but if I was to say one bad thing about this is that it does not come with any type of storage wallet/holder other than the box. I made a Woodern case for it but I would recommend getting a case for it to keep that edge nice and sharp. If you are looking at picking up a more professional knife but don’t want to play the £100s for a boutique one this is a great option and no one will really tell the difference.

quite a good blade.
I was a bit sceptical about this knife when i saw it being reviewed elsewhere, i decided i needed a good mid range knife for everyday use. To my surprise i wasnt dissapointed with this. The steel feels great, its a very hard steel. Out the box this is extemely sharp, i use this for professional use, so i definately put this knife to the test with countless hours of chopping and slicing. The edge retained for a good 2 weeks before i even thought about taking a honing steel to it, but boy once i did! the knife was as sharp as it was straight out the box again. Ive been using this now for a couple months and like most midrange knives dont expect the edge to retain for much longer before having to sharpen it on a stone. So far this knife hasnt really dissapointed me atall, its a workhouse and the build a very good, weighted handle and blade, i will say the blade is heavier than the handle but that doesnt effect the use of the knife atall. Sharpening this knife on stones was a great pleasure, the steel isnt too hard that it takes hours off your hands to sharpen, its just right that you can give the blade minimun effort and result in a hair popping razor blade at the end. All in all i will say this knife has great value considering the price range, if your looking for midmarket value knife with the qualities of a high value market knife this is your knife. its a workhorse to say the least. Before splashing out on a high end Japanese knife, give this one a go. It wont break the bank and i think its great for professional and domestic use.

Use it everyday!!
Very well designed knife! Stays very sharp and do to the length and handle is very easy to use. Only complaint with the black version is it is how when you leave it in the sink over night it starts to rust. The way I have got round this is to hand wash it straight after using it. I would recommend to anyone looking for a good quality knife with a bit of style.

Very good knife for price
This knife comes out the box very sharp, i got a sharpening stone with it too so its very easy to keep sharp everytime i use it Nice design and hex handle with hand forged look is the best details. Its not forged by hand in japan, but its a very good version of it, i have used this for almost 2 months now and its been good, no rusting, no bending, no snapping Would defiantly recommend if you dont want to spend £600 on a real Japanese knife

Great blade
Very good knife, the blade is very good quality, the handle is a bit weak but feels nice in the hand, I had to fix the handle after a few days of use in a professional kitchen. Totally worth it because for the money I can't complain too much really. Definitely recommend this knife 🔪👍🏻

Love this knife!
My partner is really happy with this knife, it’s very very sharp, feels balanced and really nice to hold, great to use and very sharp. The packaging really adds to the whole purchase as it’s a box that my partner uses to store the knife when he’s not using it. Overall a beautiful looking knife and great to use

High end performance at low price
Very happy with this knife, feels good in the hand making it easy to control. Extremely sharp straight out of the box and will cut a piece of paper easily with its own weight. Keep away from the kids as it will shave your arm without effort Great value and holds its edge even after a lot of use. This is my second part of my review for this knife , had it 18 months now, still fabulous to use, I do sharpen it, but as a trained butcher I don’t have a problem with that, and I don’t have to sharpen it as often as I thought I would even though I use it daily. I do take care of all my knives properly, I wash them by hand and dry them immediately (because carbon steel will rust) and I do dress the edges of my knives with a strop. This Knife has been great for a lockdown chef, (me), and it’s value for money is obvious …. I’m very happy with it.

Get it you k/nob
Honestly brilliant knife for the price, it’s sharp as hell as well. Gone through my finger like butter so be careful. I was expecting it to feel cheap because of the price but the knife itself and packaging with all really good quality

Wyprodukowano w Chinach, ale jakość jest dobra. Ostry od razu po wyjęciu z pudełka. Dobry w tej cenie.

I recently purchased this and it's bigger brother (the 9" Kiritsuke) and am very impressed with these wonderful blades. I have always wanted a Shun or Yoshihiro VG10 Steel Gyuto style Japanese knife for my kitchen, but my lifestyle had never lent an environment where I felt I could own a multi-hundred dollar kitchen knife and expect it to be all it was meant to be without getting destroyed by misuse, lack of proper care and cleaning, and a potential for it to just go missing one-day. Now, I'm entering a time in my life where I COULD do that, however, I wanted to crawl before I walk before I run. I'm certain this $30 utility knife nor its $57 bigger brother would not hold it's own against one of the previously mentioned knives or anything else offered by those knife makers. That said, I am not a Chef and I do not have to depend on these knives in order to make my living. I do, however, enjoy cooking and when my prep time is reduced by having a sharp blade that can make the work quicker and more enjoyable, it seems the food is better, the mood is better, and everyone is satisfied. I take pride in having sharp knives and my past experiences with even higher-end German cutlery was that of constant maintenance. I had my whetstones out every 6 months, it seems, and was always running the blades across a steele to get that edge to liven up after only a few uses. These blades have not enjoyed as much use as my prior knives because I'm not currently cooking as often as I once did, but I have noticed that they were sharp enough for most people's standards right out of the box. I used them once, enjoyed the experience, but wanted to see how much more I could get out of them. I got out my whetstones and went to work on them. A 300 grit to fine tune the shape and define my edge angle, followed by a 1,000 grit to refine the edge a bit, then a 6,000 grit to remove any stray burs and give a slight polish, then a 12,000 grit to truly polish the edges. These knives are sharp. I've used them quite a bit on a mixture of bamboo and plastic cutting boards for a mixture of fruits, veggies, and meats, and have not had to hone or re-polish the edges since. They're holding an edge perfectly and continue to make me smile while working on prepping for my meals. Did I mention they look cool? The black looks painted on, but it doesn't affect the performance and since I hand wash these, it's not like the high-heat of a dishwasher is testing the durability of the paint (if it is paint). The texture helps with food releasing from the blade, so I like having that too. The octagonal shaped handle is great, not slippery - even with wet hands. Looking for entry level Japanese inspired kitchen knives made of hard steel (not soft German steel)? Look no further. Buy the whole set. That's my next move.

The knife is really great: sharp and comfortable to use. However, it requires careful handling because the blade is very sharp. See photos and video.
