Great phone at a great price.
Coming from a iPhone user for the past 6 years on, this is a great phone for the price. It gives the feel of a " top end * phone for a very reasonable price. All you could buy from apple at this price is a 3-4 year old phone 🙄 The screen quity is perfect, nice big and bright. The notch design is great. All functions are great in my opinion, even the camera which some say is poor. Battery life big plus aswell. The only thing I can pick is the loud speaker, it's not awful but it could be better. Along with others I've not signed up to the Huawei side of things because of the reported bloatware so can't comment on that. I'm not a fan of all the Google smart assistant etc so with the features turned off and the relatively low app content I download I have a good ad free experience so far. If you're sitting there considering this phone like I was, buy it. For the money it's a great buy with great top end features.

Great device with a few small flaws
I am definitely not an expert when it comes to phones (my last phone was a Samsung Galaxy which I had for nearly 6 years before the obsolete OS became incompatible with too many crucial apps), so I can't really judge how the Huaewei Smart 2019 holds up against the new high-end models, but from an everyday usage perspective I've been very happy with it. The interface is generally very easy to use, and the Google vocal assistant function is pretty helpful with navigating various settings and features when you're still getting used to everything. It isn't perfect, as you sometimes have to use very specific phrases to get the right options (re-calibrating facial recognition, for example, took numerous attempts and word combinations before I was eventually directed to the setting in the phone itself), but I certainly found it to be beneficial overall. There are numerous options when starting for the first time to import data/settings from your old phone as well, which was great (though possibly limited only to Android devices and/or Google drives), and made the transition relatively painless. For hardware, the handset itself is quite light for its size, and the screen is very big and looks great. Again, my basis for comparison is a much older model, but the Smart 2019 really blew me away in terms of the base aesthetics. It comes with a plastic screen protector but nothing else, so you'll need to get a case if you want to keep it protected. I also had a real issue getting the SIM tray open, as the pin simply had no effect until I eventually found a youtube vid which suggested inserting the pin while the phone was upside down and pressing down with the phone, which somehow worked. This is definitely a flaw with the tray mechanic but not a dealbreaker. Facial recognition is a nifty feature too, though it seems to really dislike glasses (which I unfortunately wear all the time), so the usefulness is very limited. The fingerprint recognition works fine though, and is great for several apps that I use frequently (like banking). There a lot of other apps as well that I'm still exploring, and you can dodge all the unnecessary bloatware by just opting out of the Huaewei account when you start up the phone for the first time. Though with a hefty 64GB storage (plus option for additional storage via SD cards), a few pointless apps here and there aren't going to cause any real problems. I've yet to properly test the battery life, largely because there are a wide array of options for power saving and app management to optimise battery life for different levels. Even without much tinkering and with mild use, my phone has been able to last a full working day without requiring charge which is all I can really ask of it. The phone charges with a micro-USB connection and also has a headphone jack, both of which are a plus for me. All in all I'm very happy with this, and for the price it seems like a brilliant bargain. I only knocked one star off because of the dodgy SIM tray I had with my handset and the poor implementation of some of the apps.

Terrible customer service and cheap build quality.
Phone was fine up until a month ago when the screen came loose and started randomly pressing everywhere on the screen apart from where I needed it to. The phone became unusable. I emailed their customer service dept and waited 5 days for a reply. None was forthcoming. I then accessed their chat line on the huawei uk support site. A rather churlish lady told me that if I damaged he phone hat I’d have to pay for repair even though it is inside its warranty. I knew I hadn’t damaged it so informed her that that would not be an issue. She gave me a customer reference number and told me a Jiffy bag would be with me in 3-5 working days. A week later and still nothing. I again went onto the huawei support site and asked them why I hadn’t received a response to the emails I’d sent or the Jiffy bag. I was told that a multi billion dollar electronics and communication company was having issues with their emails. I find that hard to believe unless they are currently using Gmail. I was apologised to and told that another Jiffy bag will be sent out to me. I said this wasn’t good enough because I need my phone to keep in contact with my wife who currently has some medical issues. They said they can get dpd driver out to me who’ll give me a days notice as to when they will pick it up. I won’t be holding my breath. Customer service has been severely lacking from Huawei. They’re products aren’t much cop either. I’d avoid like the plague... or coronavirus. I was a happy customer up until a month ago but I’ll never be a return customer now.

Great phone, good price
I really love my Huawei P Smart 2019. Easy to use, loads of great features and more yet to discover. A few differences to the Samsung which I've always had previously. Great camera and good battery life. Like the group text where you are not limited to 20. Great for arranging social events. Downside is can't seem to remove people from group without starting from scratch. Also taking me a while to answer calls so missing the by cutting people off but in sure I'll get used to it. Can't seem to set different notifications for emails, messages and What's App but again that could just be me. Otherwise a great, good looking phone.
