Q: After applying the tape, will there be a permanent ridge at the tape edges?

The tape since it is surface applied does have a edge that’s the thickness of the tape. I found using it along the or near the edges very effective. I applied some across my drive over cracks which didn’t hold up as well due to snow removal. I put mine on last year and was pleasantly surprised at how well it stuck in place. I actually installed more this year over cracks not covered last year video shows old and new taped areas

Worth a try. It sticks well to itself

Not sure but mine is still stuck from last year so I got more this year. Photo shows both

Use crack sealant first before applying tape.
