Great, versatile lens
This is the second lens I bought for my Lumix S5 having previously bought the 70-300mm to go with the 20-60mm kit lens. Whilst using these two lenses, I found myself often wanting to swith between the two when I was out on a hike because I either needed that extra bit of reach beyond 60mm or that the 70 was just not quite wide enough to get what I wanted in the image. I made do with the inconvenience for quite some time as lenses are expensive but I finally decided to bite the bullet and get this lens and I'm really glad I did. I find the image quality to be fantastic. Yes, there may well be other, sharper lenses out there but if there are, I'm guessing they're the ones that cost nearly £2k and I don't have that kind of money. That said, I find this lens to have excellent image quality and sharpness. It has a fabulously versatile focal range and now when I'm out hiking, I rarely feel the need to take any other lenses out with me - this one does most of what I need it to. For landscapes, the f4 aperture is more than enough and I find that together with the S5's excellent low light capability, I get enough light into the camera in almost all situations so that I can get a good image. Also, the image stabilisation when coupled with the camera's IS is excellent and a must for someone like me who didn't have the steadiest hands. It's not the lightest of lenses but is also not inordinately heavy either. It feels perfectly balanced to me when attached to the S5. It is also weather sealed so is dust and splash resistant which fills me with confidence to keep shooting in spells of light rain. I am very happy with this lens and I'm sure most other people would be.

Fantastic
I have been using this lens for a few weeks now. It’s versatile and the video and picture quality is great. I was particularly impressed with the lens image stabilisation - it’s awesome. But it’s a bit of a heavy beast

Sharp and versatile.
Fantastic lens. Sharp and versatile with optical image stabilization. It is a little heavy but otherwise it's great.

English: This is a remarkable standard lens for the Lumix S5 and similar cameras that have an L-mount. The seller delivered it extremely quickly, so I unexpectedly took it with me immediately on a photo-assignment over one of the Alpine passes and to Italy's Lake Maggiore, taking over 1000 still images and a few movies. I purchased the lens as an upgrade to the basic 20-60 kit lens that has performed very well, but I will be using both lenses because the 20-60's small size and weight can be an advantage in certain settings. Up in the mountains, the extra weight is very noticeable, but it's worth it to get perfect results easily; the 24-105 has in-built stabilisation - to add to the in-camera stabilisation - that completely holds the picture steady, even at 105mm. So, whilst the camera is quite heavy with the larger lens, I no-longer need a tripod. I also had to discreetly provide photos for a social event, and in this case, it was better to revert to the smaller lens, as the new lens is so much bigger that it would have risked putting people off. A final point is that when taking street views and inside architecture (eg churches) with the 24-105, I missed the 20mm extra width that I'd become accustomed to. So, it's a matter of having the right lens for the particular occasion. All in all, I'm delighted with my overall move from Nikon to Panasonic, but that's mainly for movies that are a dream to accomplish with the Panasonic, hand-held with all the stabilisation of camera + lens (+ in making the final video).

THe lens is really great, but how come doesn't it come sealed??? Owned and returned by someone before? Not acceptable for a (very expensive!!) lens.
