I had a unit like this before, but the hydraulic piston stopped working and now it stays in its longest state. So I got this to replace it and it seems quite stable. If you are going to use this, make sure you know if you need the bottom portion threaded or not. Both are available....

Nice addition to my boat

Failed to stay up after 8 months.
Failed within the first year. Bleeds off and lowers immediately with any weight on it. Anyways I drilled a hole in it place a nap pin in it so that it remains up.
