EXCELLENT LUBRICANT
I had been using Rem-Oil for almost a year (it came with the Remington Squee-gee cleaning kit I purchased), but was advised by the good folks at Cabela's to invest in Hoppe's #9 for cleaning. The solvent worked extremely well, so I also looked to Hoppe's for a lubricant/rust protector for longer-term storage (I may not be shooting again for a month or two, and likely won't be hunting for another 3-4 months—this stinks!!!). Everyone I spoke with said that this was the best stuff for lubrication of gun parts. The lubricant has the consistency of soft butter out of the tube, but becomes liquidy with just a little bit of body heat. Even so, it does not get runny like Rem-Oil and the higher viscosity enables it to better coat the moving parts of my AR-15. The bolt and charging handle were noticeably smoother with the Hoppe's gun grease, even compared to a good drenching with Rem-Oil. While it does not come with a syringe, I was able to maintain some control over the flow by poking only a small hole in the tube covering. Generally, AR's like to run "wet", so I'll be using the Hoppe's Gun Grease for the action in the upper receiver regardless of whether I'm storing or shooting, and saving the Rem-Oil for the barrel to avoid any problems with over-lubrication.

Good stuff.
I recently got a tube of this because I wanted to try out grease instead of just rem oil. It works great on Ak, SKS, and Mosin Nagants. I used it mainly where metal slides on metal. It seems to be working great and lubing it well. I definitely noticed a change after I applied to my firearms. It seems to be relieving a lot of friction. The only complaint I have on this stuff is it is really stinky. It's got a really greasy smell to it obviously. I had to air out the room I was doing this in for about 15 mins or so. I don't think I will be needing another tube for a good while. When lubing parts, it doesn't take much of this. I just ripped off a good bit of a Q tip and eased enough to cover the tip out and applied a good film over the spots needed. I only had to do that about 3 or 4 times per gun. I will probably clean and re-apply after every time I shoot. As for storing guns, It works great. I don't get to shoot much and my guns sit for a while and this stuff keeps moisture out keeps gun parts from rusting or corroding. Haven't had a problem yet. I recommend getting a tube and trying it out. I can't give you any comparisons to other products because I haven't tried any other grease but I can say that I do use both grease and rem oil. I put a film of oil on everything that doesn't move and grease on sliding and moving parts. Cheers.

Better than gun oil for those long 'slide' components.
I have an older semi auto shotgun that has a pretty tight fit. Gun oil just wasn't enough, or I needed too much oil to keep it functioning. Went with the grease on the compression spring and tube, and it lasted through 100 shells without an issue. (I wore out after 100 shells). Thin enough to touch into place, but 'thick enough to stay in place.

It is Hoppe's. Rarely will you go wrong with them, and this stuff is no different. One of the many gun cleaning and maintaining products I have from this company. I would not hesitate to buy it again.

A great product. Works on sliding parts of a firearm better than oil.
