Great value, quality, guitar works well upon unboxed
I have built several DYI's and this guitar's ads caught my attention. Upon reading its excellent reviews, and based on current great price, availability to ship, I decided to jump on one. I would like to add to the many great reviews it deserves.- Great packing from manufacturer. The guitar delivered well no problems.- Upon initial tunings out of the box, the guitar sounds excellent. I checked a few things, intonation is spot-on 100%, the neck was straight and setup as it should be, the fret work is a pleasant to play, all fret ends are rounded, smooth to the touch and feel. I tweak lightly on the action to my likings and the guitar seems to be a ready to go. plugging it in and the guitar plays no problems!- There is no scratches anywhere I can find. high 5 to their quality control folks.- Next day I changed to my fav. set of string, the sound improves greatly.- The pickups work without any problems. I will take the time to compare to my other DYI pickups but the sound from this new one is great.- I love the front blue tone and wish the guitar has different color tone to the side and back.- The black binding color around the edge look cheap to me! but I can only wish they had shown the real white binding- The guitar is a tad heavier than my existing diy one.- Overall the guitar is sold are a very good price including a gid bag, great quality and playability.I don't know if there will be any mal-functioning as time goes but so far so good.- I appreciate other reviewers from their comments (highs and lows) which gave me the confidence to buy this one.- I have great confident on Grote guitar products.

good value
I can't imagine a better guitar for a better price. I am 70 and I have probably played 100 different guitars. I put some acoustic 11s on this one because that's the sound I was looking for. Action could be a little lower. just needs set up. very nice guitar.

Wonderful, Wonderful, Wonderful
Went over this guitar with a 12 volt flash lite and could find no finish flaws except the f holes could have been finished a little better. Definitely not a deal breaker. Where this thing really shines is the neck and pick ups. Pick ups are very clear and detailed. String definition is wonderful.. Very well balanced between bass and treble. Can be very airy and acoustic sounding with the right EQ. Top end is shimmery and has a nice chime. Pups can also growl. (guitar is played thru a Fender Blues deluxe and a '68 Twin reverb) Guitar has very good resonance. One of the few guitars I have (over 30) that you can feel strong string vibration thru the neck. Now on to the neck. Feel is similar to a slim 60's on the Epiphones. The piece of wood they used for the fret board is very smooth and closed grain. Fret job is impeccable. Is this guitar perfect. NO. But they got the things that count the most right. Tuners are no name but once the strings are stretched I've not had to tune it and it is played several hours a day for the last 3 weeks now. Pots are dime sized and the output jack does not hold the cable as securely as I would like. All in all, a great inexpensive guitar. I liked it so well I purchased the photo top jazz model. I have guitars that cost me several thousand dollars that I don't hardly play anymore since I got this guitar. It just feels right, plays well, and sounds great. Maybe I was lucky and got a good copy but it is definitely a keeper.

Excellent neck, frets and finish
First I bought a Redid version of this , it was playable and pretty cheap. I wanted to get one for my daughter but itwas not available. I got her the Grote version that was only about 20 bucks more. It was so much better in so many ways. That encouraged me to get this slightly better version and I am glad I did. None of these were perfectly set up out of the box and you have to expect that. Of the three this looks and feels the best. Sustain is better too - maybe the trapeze setup accounts for that.

Awesome value!
This guitar is definitely a keeper! $236 delivered to my front door! When I first saw this listing on Amazon I fell in love with the looks. The metallic finish on the front, the orange finish on the sides and back, the trapeze tail piece and those filtertron style humbuckers! When it arrived I was NOT disappointed! Truly impressed with this guitar. I’ve played guitar for over 50 years and have gone through literally hundreds of guitars (used to be a dealer) and this GROTE 335 style guitar is the absolute BOMB for its price! Setup straight out of the box. Just tuned it and tested it out. Tuners are great, finish was gorgeous with a few very minor flaws. Frets are finished beautifully and the rosewood fingerboard feels fantastic. Was impressed with these humbuckers. Very clean and covers the low, mid and high notes like a champ. A little overdrive and this thing grabs you by the throat! Absolutely a guitar that plays and looks killer especially at this price! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Really Nice For The Money
So far I really like this guitar. It sounds good and build feels solid. There are details that feel cheap, but it is only $200. At the end of the day I enjoy playing it and I’m happy I purchased it.
