Guyker BJB Preamp/Tone Control with Gain for JB Bass (With Jazz Bass Control Plate and Control Knobs)

I was a bit alarmed when I opened the packaging and found an item with the words "Guyker Tremolo System" on it.Not to worry though, the preamp was inside.I checked it out and proceeded to fit it to my JD Jazz 5 string.The connections were tiny,especially the ones for the battery,but it was pretty straightforward and worked first time.One thing confused me though.There was no mention in the instructions of a connection point for the bridge ground wire. I left it off and the pre amp worked fine.It has a good variation of tone,but I found that with just 1 pickup on,the tone control reduced the volume on that pickup very noticeably on the treble cut setting.Dont know if thats supposed to happen,but anyway,this product is good value for money.Also,the PP9 battery will fit inside the control plate cutout,so no need for an added battery box. Recommended.

Sounds very good. Improvement over stock passive control.Good volume taper. Tone control has very fine control of highs until the bottom quarter when it gets unusably muddy. Volume is also drastically affected when tone control at min when volume pots are not on max. Design error but I can live with it. Don't run tone at min.Low power drain of 260 micro amps.Gain pot works good.Very tight fit though. Depth of preamp is 15.83 mm, batt is 17.18, and Jazz bass cavity depth is 33 mm. No depth left for bottom connection of neck pickup . Has to be connected to top of board per picture.Would also help to grind down component tabs on board for more clearance. Then tape the board above batt to avoid board contact.Don't like the knobs. Ordered black hex push on.Overall good value.
