These don’t work! DO NOT BUY…..
Simply put these do NOT perform anywhere near the factory Whirlpool filters that they were made to replace. As a retired chemist I analyzed my water for TOTAL DISSOLVED SOLIDS (TDS) with a meter. My well water from my tap which bypasses this filter was analyzed several times and the average was 180ppm. I then analyzed the same water supply but it flows thru this coconut shell filter with its own spigot. Again I made several test recordings with the same meter. The results were 180ppm of TDS. The coconut shell element is only 2 months old and maybe had 50-75 gallons of water thru it. So it was still way short of its useful life span. After now being thoroughly shocked and upset about using this inferior coconut shell element for our well water filtration I purchased another Zero Water filtration pitcher with their Zero Water filter. I passed many gallons of well water that passed thru the coconut shell element into the new Zero Water element..It was then poured into a up and measured- THE RESULTS WERE 0ppm of TDS.DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON BUYING THIS INFERIOR COCONUT SHELL FILTER ELEMENT. IT SIMPLY DOES NOT REMOVE TOTAL DISSOLVED SOLIDS FROM YOUR WATER.SADLY WHIRLPOOL NO LONGER MAKES THE EXCELLENT FILTER FOR MY OLDER CANISTER WATER FILTER…..

Don't waste your money
I didn't impede the water flow and tasted oily at first. After a week that went away to be replaced with a terrible taste. I threw them away and replaced with a genuine Whirlpool filter.
