Westminster Bakers Company Premium Restaurant Oyster Crackers, 25 Ounce (50 Count, 1/2 Ounce)

Having moved from the East Coast to the Midwest, the usual "chowder crackers" were not available here....just Nabisco oyster crackers. I am so glad I have found these Westminster crackers. They are small square shape but bigger than Nabisco and have nice flavor. As soon as they arrived I grabbed a package and put them in my bowl of chili. YUM

I am so sad to be writing this review.I have been eating these since I was young in Vermont. These WERE my all time favorite. Amazon knows I buy a box or more per week! However, lately the quality control at Westminster has gone seriously downhill. I seldom get a decent batch anymore. I used to order the small boxes of 50 packets. I had several bad batches in a row. So, I thought to myself maybe the best crackers only go to the restaurants, and the second quality go to the public. I started buying the restaurant size, 150 pack boxes, until i got 300 packets of BURNT crackers. Sixty-six dollars worth! I complained to the company. They sent me a request to send the sku and pictures of the crackers, which I did. No response. I quit the cracker addiction for a while, but just had to try again. Yesterday I got a great big box of crackers that were so overly salted that they burned my tongue and even my dog wouldn't eat any. ( He was happy to eat the burnt ones from the other boxes). Today I got a different box from a different shipper. This box's crackers have no salt whatsoever, and they are over-toasted and way too dry. I have another box coming tomorrow. Who knows what they will be like. The crackers are different every single time....and never are the good quality anymore. I feel like I am getting all the rejects from the factory.I am mourning the crackers I used to get from Westminster which WERE sheer perfection! (Toasted just right, just a tiny bit of salt, a little baking soda bite) I miss those crackers. What I am getting now are NOT them! I contacted the company again....I just really want to know what happened... and will the good crackers ever be back. I have spent hundreds of dollars in the past few months, and it feels like I'm searching for the holy grail.

These are great for snacking or in soup. Only 45 calories per pkg.

I like to get the ones in the single serving packages. They keep longer and stay crisp. Terrific in homemade soups.

Edit: I downgraded my rating from 5 stars to 3. The crackers are wonderful - while they are fresh (which of course should be obvious). However, you may not have as much time to get through a box before they go stale as you might have hoped. I ordered a box of crackers 4 months ago, we ate some right away and they were good. Today (4 months later) we broke open several more packages. They were stale - not-worth-eating kind of stale. I was hoping we would have more than 4 months to get through a full box since they are in individual packages. The best buy date is listed as 2 1/2 months from today but I am throwing them out immediately. So the hope was that we would have at least 6 months to enjoy these - from the time we received them until the best buy date, but no such luck. It is a shame and a big waste.Are there less expensive oyster crackers out there? Certainly; but the brand my local store carries is not as tasty and 3/4 goes to waste because we cannot get through the bag before it goes stale. Not only are these individual bags perfect for our needs but the crackers have a nice light texture and are great tasting to boot.

These are ok. Quite hard, kind of bland. Wanted to like them more than I did.
