Truly waterproof, looks nice
I’ve been using this product for years, it’s very nice and I like the basic wand brush. It’s definite and only comes off with face soap, which is the goal for me. Works great, lasts a long time!

Affordable & Impressive!
Admittedly, I bought the waterproof (very black) version of this mascara because the pink and green bottle. It's really nostalgic for me since my mom used to use Great Lash washable when I was little, so I was really hoping the waterproof version would become a stable in my makeup routine. This mascara did not disappoint me at all! I'll be comparing it to the IL MAKIAGE Black Card mascara my sister gave me since it's the only other mascara I've owned. Price: DIRT CHEAP! Black Card nearly gave me a heart attack when I looked up the price ($30+). Honestly this mascara proves to me that just because a product is considered a "drugstore" brand, doesn't mean it's garbage. High prices don't always make the product better so don't knock it till you try it. Product amount: Great Lash has 12.7ml of product compared to Black Card that has only 9.5ml for about a 6th of the price (don't quote my math on that). Application: Great Lash has a shorter wand which I like. I feel I have better control over the wand and can maneuver it better than Black Card, which can feel long and awkward especially if you prefer to not change hands when applying your mascara. I was a bit skeptical about the Great Lash brush because I had gotten used to the unique, silicone brush shape of Black Card, but I like this classic brush better. I haven't poked myself with it thus far, it catches all my lashes surprisingly well and applies the mascara pretty evenly so it's not hard to get a more natural looking lash. Meaning I don't get a bunch of clumped or heavy feeling lashes if I get my application right. If I do get a clump I use a sewing pin to fix it because I apparently like living dangerously - I'll get a proper lash comb eventually. Unlike Black Card that claims (and delivers) curl and length, Great Lash doesn't promise a curling effect, but it did add some curl to my lashes -some length too- even if it wasn't as dramatic as Black Card (again a more natural look). If you want a big curling affect to your lashes then you'll need an eyelash curler, and this waterproof mascara will definitely lock that curl in for the day. Is it water proof?: YES! My dog decided she wanted to play outside while it was snowing/raining and I happened to be wearing this mascara so I figured it was a good time to test it. I had rain and snow on my lashes and this mascara didn't budge until I removed it with micellar water all in 1 waterproof from Garnier. I did notice a few ladies mention their mascara was flaking when they went to bed but I haven't had that issue at all. Maybe I touch my eyes less (oil from your skin can breakdown waterproof mascara a bit). Also, let's be real, if you're expecting your mascara to pull off a 16+ hour day without some wear and tear you're looking for a miracle, not a mascara. Black Card isn't waterproof and it will flake in a few hours or if you touch it, so you can't set it and forget it like you can with Great Lash. It also won't hold a curling effect created by an eyelash curler (think of how curly hair is straight when wet). Overall: Buy it! You won't be disappointed and your wallet won't go into cardiac arrest.

Classic and does the job
Buildable and not clumpy. Thin wand i like. I usually use elf big mood and it's clumpy (i still love it) but i want to get this one instead because it's cheaper and just as intense when you do two layers

Not great!
The brush bristles are not even, and the mascara is too sticky, I always use this mascara, but this time I think it was either too old or subjected to extremes of temperature -- or something!

My go to mascara
This is a classic mascara I have used on and off over the years. It doesn't clump and you can take time to build a thicker lash. It helps to curl your lashes before applying. I chose the very black waterproof formula this time. I can go all day and not have that crazy raccoon look because it ran or smudged. It stays put until I wash my face.

Mascara
My favorite Mascara. It's the only one that actually works perfectly. It's much better than any high-end brand. I tried several.

All of the ages of your life
The following is a quote from AI overview: But before you read that, I am blah, blah, blah years old and have used this mascara since it's debut. Ok, you can estimate the years old. I started with the regular and then during stressful or sad times, like now, I switched to the "waterproof". It really is waterproof! No number of salty tears can defeat it. It comes off pretty easily with any kind of face wash, cold cream, Vaseline, etc. I use olive oil. It does flake off a little by day two but otherwise it has stood the test of time and it's really affordable. Now, read a little history...... Maybelline's Great Lash mascara debuted in 1971 and is known for being the first water-based, automatic mascara, which made it easy to apply and remove. Its iconic pink and green packaging was inspired by the popular color schemes of the 1970s and the vibrant prints of Lilly Pulitzer. The product was developed by founder Thomas Lyle Williams to make it easier for women to enhance their lashes, inspired by his sister Mabel's homemade mixture of Vaseline and coal dust.

Easy application. Not waterproof
This mascara goes on easily, does not clump and gives a natural look to my eyelashes. My only complaint is this is not waterproof. It smudges very easily, especially if I’m driving a few hours and blink my eyes due to dry eyes. It will smudge all over under my lower lashes. And it’s not swim proof either. I bought this many times before, because I swim everyday but it appears the formula has changed. I won’t buy it again.

I have been using this mascara for a few years now and it works great for me. It’s not super thick, but you can add a second coat, if needed. The brush separates my lashes well and there’s no clumpiness. It does not run or smudge, even when crying and it washes off easily with coconut oil. It’s also much less expensive than other brands. It’s a great product.

A great 'every day' black mascara. Not difficult to remove, so will rub off a bit when swimming. It doesn't irritate my eyes.
