This is probably the best book I have had the opportunity to read. Compelling in every sense. Dr Michael Seeley

This is a book which brings to the fore some common sense lessons for life, which are no less important. A very easy read. It will resonate with anyone who has been through Sandhurst. Incidentally, I would also recommend it to any partner of a former Sandhurst graduate - it will explain the reason why behind a lot of their way of thinking and behaving - something of a handbook!

I have long considered Maj Gen Nanson to be one of the best leaders I've ever met, having had the pleasure of serving with (yes, 'with' - not under!) him as my Company OC and later Battalion CO. I was excited then to see his leadership ethos on paper, to finally give me the opportunity to see in detail what it is that set him apart from so many of the other leaders I've met. I was not disappointed. My proximity to him throughout my career may have made this book more relatable to me, but I can certainly vouch for the fact that all the lessons contained within come from an incredibly genuine, able and credible individual.

Written by a senior military officer, this book contains valuable lessons for life and personal conduct. Well worth buying. Forget silliness such as ‘Think and grow rich’ or ‘How to win friends and influence people’. This book will teach you how to get noticed by the people who really matter, and that could seriously improve your career and personal circumstances.
