I thought the meater block probes only turn on when you remove them from the block? I turn on the block and open the app all 4 probes are reading.

Hi, With the MEATER Block, the probes will power on when the MEATER Block is powered on. With the MEATER and MEATER+ model the probe will become active only when removing the probe from the charger. Kind regards, The MEATER Team

Can i use wifi network instead? Around the house?

you need bluetooth from the probe to the Meater Block. So you want those two relatively close The Meater Block to the app uses wifi and you can be anywhere that has a wifi connection....even in the movie theater! :)))

The probes are the same across MEATER, MEATER+, and MEATER Block. MEATER+ has better range than MEATER because MEATER+ has a built-in Bluetooth repeater in the charger. The probes Bluetooth pair to the MEATER+ charger and your smartphone pairs to the charger in an open-air environment, getting better range. The slight difference with MEATER Block probes is that they have etched, numbered indicators at the ends of the probes. They Bluetooth-pair to the Block (so leave the Block close to the cooker) and you can either use 1) Standalone mode without the use of your smartphone or 2) WiFi mode and get onto your WiFi network. Can you use the probes with out the meater block just through bluetooth with your phone?

No the probes talk to the block via bluetooth and the block talks to the wifi. the probes wont connect to the bluetooth of the phone.
