A "solid" piece of exercise equipment and a tip to increase its effectiveness and efficiency in giving you more strength.
The 36-pound Body Solid Tools weighted bar is a very versatile piece of exercise equipment to use in order to get into shape if you have limited space and/or a limited budget. It can be used for a variety of upper and lower body exercises. Whether utilized for standing presses, curls, squats, lunges, etc., this exercise "tool" can do it all. This bar does not take up a lot of space and can be discreetly slid under your bed or up against the wall when not being used. Some may complain that once the 36-pound weight of the bar is mastered there is no way to add additional weight. I have found a simple solution for this problem that allows you to increase the weight of the bar in varying adjustable increments according to your own goals and desires. I have discovered that you can safely strap onto each end of this weighted bar one or more sets of good quality ankle weights to increase the bar's total weight and thus increase your strength training goals. I recommend the Champion Sports Soft Adjustable Ankle and Wrist Weights, 10 pound set (two 5 pound ankle weights per set). It can be purchased here through Amazon: Champion Sports Soft Adjustable Ankle/Wrist Weights, 10 Lbs These are durable ankle weights with strong one piece straps that allow you to safely strap them onto the ends of the Body Solid Tools Weighted Bar for a nice, snug fit.The bar's long length allows you to strap on two or more sets of ankle weights onto each of the bar's ends without taking up too much space. There is still plenty of room left available for proper and comfortable hand holding positions of the weighted bar. Again, the Body Solid Tools Weighted Bar and Champion Sports Soft Adjustable Ankle and Wrist Weights makes an excellent combination.

Excellent quality - I cut mine in half to make a 24" and 3 pound "training" tennis racket
Let me be very clear, I'm not using this as a typical weighted bar. I purposely cut the bar in half (two x 24" bars). I use the now 24" long bar (now about 3 pounds in weight) as my training tennis racket. It allows me to sorta practice tennis strokes and serves with a weight that is about three (3x) times the weight of my normal tennis racket.....and about the same length too. The added weight and practice allows me to develop better racket head speed, core speed and rotation and overall balance in my strokes (backhand, forehand and serve). Most importantly, it has kept and improved my serve speed at age 45 than when I was 20 (my right shoulder, forearm and back have increased in strength and endurance). What's a lot of fun is to practice with it while watching a tennis match in front of the big screen TV. Or - I will play some virtual tennis matches on my sons' Xbox 360 console with the Kinect. My footwork has to be much more shorter and abbreviated in the living room, but I can still swing along with the same timing as the match on TV. And - the 24" weighted bar fits in my tennis bag which makes warming up more efficient too before matches and practices. I understand this is just a substitute, but I do find it handy and useful during the winter months until I can get outside and fine-tune my swing and serve with my ball machine or practice partners. At age 46, I still prefer to play with heavier rackets (350 grams +) which are getting harder and harder to find nowadays.

Versatile and Longer length body-bar.
OMG, I am def in bad shape these days b/c I thought the weight of this is sorta heavy. I haven't been pumping iron like I should/did couple years back so I have lost strength in my muscle fibers. I am still fairly strong for an old fart but I need to start pumping again with heavier weights so this will work well. I will have to use my 10 lbs dumb bells for couple weeks until I can start using this body bar. I used to curl and use 25 lbs weights each arm couple years back but now I'm gonna have to work up to it again. I will say that this bar is longer then the ones available in most of the fitness clubs or classes. I love the length of this one b/c its easier to balance, ease of use and versatility in which can be used for many different workouts. This can be used standing, on floor, on the bench, you name it this is a versatile bar. I am a retired fitness trainer and I will use this for all of my needs for strength training, functional training, cardio training and for stretching as well. In my opinion, body bars are great for beginner to assist in building confidence, for better forms, posture and for EVEN strengthening of all muscles.

At my age who needs a gym to stay in shape? I have two bars of varying weights and use of them ever other day keep my chest and arms strong and pumped. My company gym has a whole set off them. Sturdy. Long lasting. No real wear, even on the soft, comfortable bar covers after multiple years of use . Would definitely buy again . . . but they last forever . . . so no need.

Great Squat bar.
I live in a small apartment that doesn't have a gym sadly and I really wanted to be able to do squats and bench presses. Weighted bar was the best option and I decided to go with this brand because they had 36lbs. This is a solidly build weight bar with foam all throughout the bar and rubber tips. Very sturdy and works well. Super easy to hide behind my bookcase along with my free weights. Only downside is with the 36lb bar it's 6 feet long. Considering I'm only 4'9" tall, this is a pretty long bar. It does make it difficult to maneuver it around, but I think I'm getting the hang of it. Definitely recommend if you're in an apartment and need something to workout with at home that doesn't take much room.
