An exceptional book for those who want to create Lebanese dishes and share these with family and friends
An excellent book. Recipes were very well written, clear, and easy to follow. When describing techniques unfamiliar to Western cook, Julie took the time to describe these techniques in detail. She also described what you should see or feel to determine when a particular cooking step was complete. I also enjoyed the little stories about Lebanon that were peppered throughout the recipe book. It gave one a strong feeling for her love of the country, its traditions and its cooking and her joy in sharing this with others. This is a book designed to lead us into the realm of middle eastern cooking and to give us the skills to share these flavours with others.

Beautiful book. Top shelf worthy.
This is an absolutely beautiful and oh so easy to use book! Julie explains everything so creating your favorite recipes at home (without losing any of the authentic flavors you love!) is explained and broken into easy to follow steps. I love that before each recipe is a little blurb with interesting facts or just a sweet story about the dish. The “pantry” section is super helpful. And the sweets and drinks section! swoon! This book has been used and loved since the day I received it as a gift, and has found a place on my “top shelf” of cookbooks. (The rest of you that always need one more cookbook know exactly what I’m talking about :) This book is great not only for beginners just trying to prepare a dish from a new cuisine, but is also for those that have enjoyed turning their kitchen into an international cooking experience. The Real Thing!
I loved this cookbook. Had all the old Lebanese recipes my husband's grandmother used to make for the traditional Saturday Night Family Dinner. And surprised at the number of recipes I had not seen before. Lovely photos and easy to follow instructions and lots of advice based on her lifetime of eating and cooking Lebanese Food. The difference between Grandma and Julie, is that Julie has them all written down and not memorized as a young girl, learning how to cook. The only differences is that lamb was expensive and hard to get in US at time family came here, so used ground beef, from butcher, to substitute, and always came out good. Thank you for your lovely cookbook!
