You want to get a pair of sprue cutters and model sand paper. It is a nice little kit and goes together very well .. little fuss.

Is this plane prepainted?

hi I'm sorry it took me so long to answer your question but the model is not pre painted it's up there plastic you have nowhere to go to Painted you can get offended by hand oh by spray gun I paid mine either or sometimes I like the pain in my hand with acrylic paint they work a lot better I the thinner if you cared about the thinner as too much to do this 1 water a little bit of dishwasher soap like Dawn that's the best one or you could do the same thing water delivery water but they wait to 10 drops of dishwashing soap shake it and then you could use it as a thinner and also to you add 1/4 of say you have a bottle you got one quoted about it with alcohol 91% is better the rest of the water then 67 drives a more of a dishwashing soap hey what's good with a acrylic paints sometimes you could just use just water and soap for dinner but you want that clean it real good alcohol rubbing alcohol that you buy the stores that I got. I'm looking for a first model for the under 8 age range. Is this a good one to start with or is there a different one I should look at?

If an adult is helping and supervising building the model kit it should be fine. If not helping and supervising I would recommend snap together model kits. there is a wide range of these kits from aircraft,cars,tanks, and a few ships. This is a good first step into actual gluing together and painting kits. There is also a wide range of acrylic water based paints and less toxic model glues.
