my iron is leaving rust spots on the clothes. Have cleaned out the vents manually and the sole is perfect. Will this solve my problem?

Check with the instructions for your iron. My current Rowenta said to not use distilled water. Rust spots probably mean rust inside the iron's water system. It's one of the reasons I use a spray bottle of water instead of steam. And if I must use steam, I use filtered water from my Brita.
