Sentimental favorite
My husband loves to have these cookies with coffee or milk. He tells me that his grandmother used to give him these cookies with milk after school. Now we are carrying on that tradition with the grandkids. The lightly spiced flavor of these cookies makes them a comforting snack.

Paid too much
I thought these cookie would have almond bits in them. Paid too much. I could have gotten a pack at the dollar tree. Same brand for $1.25 per pack instead of 12 packs for $33.

Good, but not the real thing
I liked these cookies well enough, and they are sort of crudely windmill shaped. But... they are crumbly like your average Danish Butter Cookie and have almost no flavor of nutmeg and no almond slivers in them at all. Sort of a knockoff, like when they took Vernors national and watered down the formula for other regions. These probably aren't the Windmill Cookies you remember (or were looking for). Dunk them and they'll probably just dissolve into crud at the bottom of the cup.

Not a premium cookie, but good for the price.
These cookies are a good buy for the price as long as you know what to expect. They are a dry, very mild spice cookie. The almond flavoring is very faint (as is the spice). The ingredients list mentions among the minor ingredients almond butter and 'less than 2%' almond meal. You don't get the burst of flavorful spices that you would with a premium windmill cookie or 'speculaas.' They are more like the flavor and consistency of animal crackers with a hint of spice. That said, I especially enjoy eating them with ice cream and would buy again.
