Lost weight within first three weeks
I am on my fourth week of this diet I haven't lost any more than the 7 pounds I initially lost but apparently that is a good thing and means the weight should drop of gradually. The book is filled with recipes, suggestions, nudges and science at the back as to how and why the diet works for most people. Please note that I say for most people. For myself the recipes could be a tad more precise and be better proof read but the content is there and if you just apply common sense after reading the book re the recipes then you'll be fine. The banting bread is delicious, we make variations and with butter and or cheese it's even better. Very easy to make too. The nutty crackers are a great carry around with you snack. This diet is the easiest thing in the world to do once you get past the initial thing of eating so much fatty meat. It was a bit of a novelty for me in the first week. By the second week I started looking forward to everything I ate and felt so surprised still that I never felt hungry in between meals. I shall stick with this diet for three months after which I shall get a check up with the doctors just to make sure everything is ticking along fine - it is a sensible thing to do because it is rather a lot of fatty meat allowed per day but then it might seem like that to me because I have been vegan and then vegetarian for years.

Marathon runner - 4 weeks to adapt
I like Prof Noakes, he is a very clever guy that is without argument. I switched to a LCHF lifestyle 6 weeks ago. The first three weeks were very hard on my running. Literally I was dead legged (and arms) from the first 10s until the last step. But slowly during the 4th week I saw a light. I did my run ths Sunday, only 8 miles...but, I felt energized the whole way and felt like I was running on sugar again. Only this time when I get to 16 miles+ I will not bonk, hit the wall or whatever you want to call it. I have lost 8lbs in 5 weeks without counting a single calorie. I go the whole day without craving a mid afternoon sugar rush. I feel liberated. I won't lie, it's not been plain sailing. The transformation is hard on your meals as well as your running but so far I am a 100% believer. As for the book. The science bit (Noakes) is compelling. He outlines why and presents the evidence in an easy to understand way. The outline of how his peers vilified him when he was brave enough to hold his hands up and say "I was wrong" is as infuriating as it is amazing to read. The food bit is great, It set's you on the path and is enough to get you through the first 3 weeks. For the first time in years I am actually looking forward to getting stuck into those 20 milers.
