To Read this is to plumb the very depths of despair and depravity....
Atlee discovers more than she really wanted or expected in this new chapter in her search for her missing twin....As always, she manages to become involved in yet another case with national as well as international repercussions that must be handled with the utmost secrecy and discretion. However, all that pales alongside the betrayals and lies she unearths about her and her twins childhood. Bitter and betrayed by those she thought trustworthy, she sets out on the final leg of her journey to find her sister... still uncertain if Mercy is still alive or sane... A truly heart wrenching story and brilliantly written. Baldacci remains one of my all time favorite authors!

Simply outstanding
There is so much to say about this book that I don’t know where to start. But, to begin with, David Baldacci has awarded us with another (yes, yet another) phenomenal read.I should say this first. I do not re tell story lines in my reviews. So, any would-be reader/reviewer reading this for a “cliff notes” purpose will be disappointed. I write this without having read any other reviewer’s take on this book.I typically break down a book in an analytic way, looking at Plot, Character Development, Rising/Falling Action, Anti Climax, and then, Resolution. The Plot of this book was enormously engrossing. I could not put the book down---with one caveat. For me, the read started off slow, which from my experience with this writer, was, I thought, unusual. But, then the read took off like a rocket right on through the Resolution.A word about Resolution.I generally find the Resolution in a book to be sappy, i.e., either not that interesting, or even informative to the story line overall. But, that’s me.Major exception was this read. It was outstanding. Unlike any other that I’ve read, either by this author or of others I’ve read and reviewed, the Resolution in this book absolutely captured the essence of the read for me.But, I should digress.Character Development, for me, means I want the good guys to be “good” and the bad guys to be “better” (as in the Mae West line, “When I’m good, I’m very good, and when I’m bad, I’m “better”).The terrifically “good guy” in this book is FBI agent Atlee Pine.I have to say, that in her prior books, she didn’t exactly set my heart on fire. She absolutely did, though, in this read. She was doggedly determined to get to the bottom of things, whatever those “things” might be throughout the story line.Having said that, I liked John Puller’s role, but frankly, Atlee over shadowed him in the main, except for the one scene in which he came through in flying colors.I can’t say too much for any other antagonist in the read including Jack Lineberry, but, what I will say about him, is, he got what he deserved (see Resolution). As I say above, there is a lot to say about this book that I don’t mention here. Suffice it to say, the story is particularly poignant in those other areas. But to expound on them here would be too much to comment on in this review. In conclusion, David Baldacci is one of those writers that never disappoints. He always provides an exceptional read. I pre order his books and read them as soon as I can. I will continue to do so.

Unbelievable 3.5 stars
I did borrow the book from the library. And overall it was good but I had a lot of eye rolling while reading. Some of the things that made it not as enjoyable as the previous two in the series: There were too many close calls and in the knick of time saves. The criminals were super human in their knowledge and a step ahead of both Puller and Atlee. However, it was still mostly entertaining except it was also depressing because there were so many disgusting villains. And too many people dropped the ball on her sister for too long, including Atlee. The end was weird and there were a lot of storylines so one kept on going back and forth between different characters in bad situations.

Father reads his books - Christmas Gift
"Daylight" by David Baldacci is an enthralling addition to the Atlee Pine series, making it the perfect Christmas gift for my father, a devoted Baldacci fan. The plot is gripping, with Pine navigating a web of conspiracies and mysteries. Baldacci's writing is masterful, weaving suspense seamlessly. Atlee Pine's character development is phenomenal, adding depth to the narrative. The twists and turns kept us on the edge of our seats. "Daylight" is a thrilling page-turner, a testament to Baldacci's storytelling prowess. Highly recommended for fans of suspenseful mysteries – a superb continuation of an already outstanding series.

Looking for a little mercy and finding epstein
David Baldacci's Daylight is the 3rd Atlee Pine offering. Atlee is still on personal leave, following up clues in the search for her twin sister. From the last book, she is on her way to New Jersey to find an aging mobster sibling who was in the vicinity during her sister's kidnapping. She runs into an Army investigation led by John Puller another Baldacci character and they team up, although their investigations are headed in different directions. In the end, she cracks another big case with national security implications and learns more clues about her sister as well as her parents. The overall plot follows the standard Baldacci style with plenty of plot twists and surprises along the way. While the overall story and its execution is well done, Baldacci is beginning to jump the shark as Atlee stumbles into a major plot unfolding right under everyone's noses, but with total oblivion. At the same time, her family just keeps getting weirder and weirder as her sister is apparently alive, but was raised chained in a cave and her father, rather than having committed suicide, killed his assassin and is supposedly living with her mother off the grid. And her biological father actually knew all of this.Typically, Baldacci carries a character for about 6 - 7 novels. At this rate, Atlee may be saving the Earth from an alien invasion that was planned by her parents using her sister as bait. Please David, unless they are all hiding out at the bottom of the Grand Canyon, Atlee can't stay on personal leave for another three installments - give the girl some closure.

Das Buch hat richtig Drive. Man kann es kaum weglegen. Der dritte Teil war der bisher beste von Atlee Pine. Ich freue mich auf den vierten Teil.

Awesomeness reloaded
Not a single word or line is mediocre in this 3rd book of the series. Weaving plots into plots is something David Baldacci is a pro at. Hats off to a story so well written that I haven't been able to keep it down till the very end !
