Nice Story for Preschooler
My almost-4-year-old liked the story so much that he had asked my partner to read it for him again and again.

Great book
We bought this book for our children before our trip to Pomeii. The book told the historically accurate account of the Pompeii tragedy in an age-approriate way. The illustrations were also very nice.

Good book
good story based on reality - really brings events to life for children who are studying the Romans. Would recommend.

Purchased for an elementary gifted unit. An interesting perspective on the eruption of Vesusvius. Arrived on time and met buyer expectations.

Traumatizing
I assumed - wrongly - that I could trust a children's book to be appropriate for children. This book introduces a family, lets the reader invest in them, then kills all but two children, and the children carry a deep sadness for the rest of their lives.I did not see or read the previous review, or I would have known. I am so sorry - my grandson was very distressed. Yes, of course it was a distressing event - but a child does not need to experience intimate, heartfelt loss from an historical event.
