Jump in if you think you can handle it!
This is one of the top games on BGG for a reason! My group and I finished Jaws of the Lion and moved directly to this. While I don’t have a ton of encounters under my belt, I do have enough to know that I am in love with this game! The added complexity to the town activities is definitely fiddly, but it adds an entire facet to a game that already has so much! The way that the unboxing is controlled and instructed, the ease of use in the manual, the incredible concepts of characters, and the improved writing of the story are all great. This game is definitely a monster. It is not for the feint of heart and should not be taken lightly. If you’re looking to get into the franchise you should play Jaws of the Lion first! Even if you know you’ll like Frosthaven, you should treat Jaws as a very long and very excellent tutorial. You’ll spend a lot of time playing Jaws, for sure, but you’ll roll into Frosthaven knowing the game mechanics and will be ready for the mountain of incredibly brilliant fiddliness to come! This game is insanely good and I would highly recommend it for anyone with the time and a group of friends that’s willing to knock it out. Just be aware that if you jump in to this Willy-nilly, you may get overwhelmed very quickly and keep it as a dust collecting ornament on your shelf forever (since it’ll be too heavy to remove).

Amazing!
I have never seen such an intricate, beautifully designed game. We'd finished playing Gloomhaven; Jaws of the Lion, and I expected this to simply be a continuation of that game (which I also highly recommend, especially before playing Frosthaven) - but it's so much more than that! Really complex play + varied scenarios + well made game pieces. We play as a family - our precocious 13 year old is obsessed with it, but it's too complex for our 8 year old to play as an independent character. However, the modular and scenario-based format means that she can bring a character into the game when she's ready. We have it set up on a large game table basically permanently, since we enjoy it so much; however, you can repack it if that's not feasible. We also play in short bursts - say, a round or two before bed. You don't have to complete the scenarios each time if you can keep the set up in place. Be warned: we had to upgrade our game table size for this - with our set-up, we easily need 9+ sq. ft (current table is 36 x 42 and it still feels cramped!) This was an extremely good "investment" - it will bring great family bonding time for probably the next decade!

Love love this game
We bought this for ourselves as a Christmas present and we both love it. This game is not for the casual gamer - it is extensive setup, tons of rules, a play style that is unique to this game (unless you played their first game Gloomhaven which we did not) and a story that will take months to play through. We will likely be at this all year. But it is aaaaallllll worth it. We are just loving it. There are many YouTube videos out there that fans have made that help explain the rules and an extensive rulebook that really does a good job of addressing every possible scenario. Also we found videos of players who video their game play so that you can watch them actually play which was helpful when we came to a place in the scenario where we felt stuck or didn’t understand something. Such a great game and for the amount of hours of fun we will have definitely worth every penny.

Great game, Set aside distractions and 3-4 hours per game
When comparing with Gloomhaven, the setup will be longer primarily due to composing your loot deck. Plan for an additional 30-40 minutes after each scenario for the frosthaven city events you will perform. Love the new features such as Regeneration. Set aside 3-4 hours to play a scenario (preferably after your children have gone to sleep). If you've never played gloomhaven, I'd suggest gradually learning the basic gameplay with "Jaws of the Lion" and then you'll know about 50% of the rules of how to play Frosthaven. Having a 3d printer to organize your parts and pieces is also extremely helpful. I store the game in both a medium-sized bin and in its original box.

Much anticipated gift for my brother, absolutely massive !!
My brother has wanted this game for the past two years, and me and my mum gifted it to him for his birthday. The box is massive (I've pictured it next to my mum for reference) and was jam packed with layouts for the board, holders for the cards, rule books and figures, my brother was thrilled. The game was pricey and naturally shipping was quite high but it arrived incredibly fast and well packaged. Very Highly recommended game and seller Elizabeth Hair

Wow!!!
Oh my gosh! This game is 35 pounds! And in my opinion I got it at a great price for 230.00$. Yes it is expensive. Yes it will take up a lot of game table space. For me though it is worth it. This game is full of mystery. This is a legacy game so it will probably take me a year or more to actually complete it. Ok this game has a rule book the thickness of a good magazine. It has 138 different scenarios 6 starter characters and several more that get unlocked as you progress through the game. The mechanics seem a little confusing at first but you will most likely get the hang of them after a few sessions of play. There are monsters and traps, treasures and cooperative play. I honestly can’t say enough good things about it without giving up spoilers. If you like legacy games and if you can set aside enough money to buy this it’s well worth it.

Complex, but still fun, and a worthy addition to the Gloomhaven line of games.

Best game ever! A lot of stuff here, months of play, it weighs 12k! But this is First Edition ie it's full of errata which you will have to amend (things in wrong envelopes, cards not in right numbered places its all on BGG). Get a Second Edition copy thats been fixed and has no errata.

The game itself is fabulous, Amazon's shipping is the worst, this game comes with an exterior box to protect everything, but after ordering and send it for shipping, I received a damaged box! since the exterior box was removed.

Frosthaven is a massive cooperative board game where players go on adventures, fight monsters, and build up a frozen outpost together. It’s like a mix between a strategy game and a role-playing game, with tons of scenarios, characters, and stories to discover. The game is very deep and can take hours per session, so it’s best for groups who enjoy long, detailed games. If you liked Gloomhaven, this is even bigger and more exciting. If you haven't tried Gloomhaven and worried it's too overwhelming, then you could also try Jaws of The Lion first as it's an easier entry to the world of Gloomhaven.
