Strange-looking, but best cut on a can lid you will ever see
You probably already have a can opener. You probably also hate it. Why?-- It comes off halfway through opening the can.-- You have to go over the spots it didn't cut.-- Once you get the lid off, it has to be registered as a ninja weapon in 31 states.-- The dusty lid fell into your pineapple. You wonder if dust is nutritious or not.-- You suspect there are now bits of steel in your soup. Oh, well...maybe you were iron deficient? Then you have this can opener. You're probably looking at it thinking "Where is the rest of it?" or "How does that thing even work?". Stop that and buy one now! This can opener attaches easily, stays on the can, produces a perfect, clean, fairly dull edge on the lid, and cuts below the outside rim of the lid. This last part means two things:-- The lid can't fall into the can.-- You can press the lid back on the can to re-close it. It's almost 2023, and cans aren't (usually) reclosable. What's up with that? I guess reclosable cans will show up along with the jet packs and flying cars they used to say we'd have now.Needless to say, you should get one of these.

Best Can Opener
Why would anyone write a review for a can opener?Because it is a damn good can opener, that is why!It is unlike traditional can openers and takes about 1 extra minute to figure out how to work when you first use it. But once you know how to place and release the can opener....ah. It's so satisfying. No sharp edges, the cut is so clean that if you need to, you can put the lid back on the can until you are ready to use is (please store the food properly though, I don't want you getting sick). The magnet is so dope, it pops the lid right off after you use it. The only time this doesn't happen is when you are opening lids that have a sticky adhesive (Whole Foods bean cans do this, you just have to wiggle the lid and it pops off).I love that there is only one main part to this can opener, it isn't bulky like traditional can openers, so it takes up less space.Prepare to be stoked when opening up cans.

Stopped working after a month!!
EDIT: The company reached out to apologize for the faulty product and sent me a new one right away. For the last 5 months, the new one has worked great! Hopefully it lasts even longer. Only complaint this time around is that the magnet is not very strong and does not usually pull the lid off the can so I actually have to pop it open myself.Original: Can opener worked great for the first month but then stopped working properly. It no longer glides around the can smoothly. It randomly stops which creates a dent in the can and does not cut anymore. I can move the opener to another spot but it continues to occur and results in a bunch of spots around the lid where it is still connected and therefore cannot open. I thought it was a fluke the first time it happened but it has happened every time since then, with various types of cans.

seems to become less effective over time -- avoid
I am re-reading reviews to ascertain if some sort of user error on my part. When it first came I liked it. It was a little different than what I was used to but I liked how small the unit was and it seemed effective enough at removing a lid as described. Having said that, I always seemed to have to go around more than 1 time. More recently (a little after the 30 days of owning the unit) it seems to have stopped cutting. On its most recent use I had to bend the lid-up as only half of it was cut through and the next can I attempted wasn't opened at all. So, I dug my old "sharp edge" opener out of the donation bin and was astounded at how well/easy it worked in comparison. Yes, the old opener created a sharp edge but I also now had a lid that could be used to drain excess liquid from the can. Other users experience also seems to be varied (some good/some bad) and with others becoming frustrated over time. Don't ignore these reviews. While a great concept there's something about the implementation of these ideas in this unit that are less than satisfying. I bought initially as visiting a family member who had the "pampered" version. This unit does not work nearly as well. I'll give another go but most likely this will wind up in the trash as I wouldn't want to donate something that doesn't work!

Great can opener
Works very well, exactly as the directions say. Twist backwards to open it, set it on the can, twist forward to close and continue to twist forward until the lid has been fully cut, twist backwards to loosen, lift and the lid goes with it.I mostly use can openers to open cans of pet food and cans of pumpkin (also for pet food, it is great fiber and helps settle upset tummies). I was afraid that the rubber lid we use to seal a partially used can wouldn't fit after the lip is removed. It fits just fine and is even easier to put back on. This is absolutely worth every penny. It's super easy to use, doesn't leave sharp edges, and makes it even easier to get dog food out of the can because there's no annoying lip to catch it anymore. Unless this thing wears out in the next year (I don't expect it to), I am thrilled with it and will recommend it to anyone who asks.

Life-changing can opener :)
I prefer a manual can opener (in case power is out/don't want another bulky and plugged-in appliance) and have tried for years to find a good one... but have trouble because they break if I squeeze too hard or they just don't work so well/I have to struggle to either make the initial puncture and/or turning it to get the lid off completely because it cuts part of the lid but not all of it.(I realize that this is mostly a ME problem with manual can openers, but regardless-- if you are another rare individual having a similar struggle, you know what I'm talking about.)This one does require some hand strength to turn it but it works very well every time and leaves no sharp edges. I love it!(Please note that some cans require the more traditional type of opener due to how they are made--this one cuts on the side of the can, not the top.)
