Tales from Tang Dynasty China: Selections from the Taiping Guangji

I was hoping there would be some material in here that I could use to have my 7th graders read, because primary sources are important for all ages to experience. Unfortunately, there's nothing in here that can be used to help understand basics of China under the Tang Dynasty.

Good range of stories, well written. A good introduction to Tang tales.
