Crown Sporting Goods Stainless Steel Whistle with Lanyard – Great for Coaches, Referees, and Officials

I originally bought this whistle because of the increasing number of coyotes in my area. A park ranger said that they hated the sound of a whistle and that was the best way to stop them from following you when you walk your dogs. I have 2 small Havanese dogs and I wanted to make sure they were safe when I take them for walks. Now I can feel safe walking them again! I'm glad I haven't had to use it for coyotes and hope I never do! As a bonus, this whistle works great when a dog is barking at them or approaching them in an unfriendly manner on our walks. It stops them in their tracks! Also, it works quite well when my own dogs start barking in our home! All they have to do is see me hold the whistle usually, but if that doesn't stop them, I blow the whistle and that does! It is made of stainless steel and I find the lanyard to be quite sturdy enough for the size of the whistle. It may be small but it makes a mighty noise and is just the right size not to look conspicuous when I walk the dogs. The harder you blow on it, the more noise it makes, so I don't blow very hard to start with, and then harder if that doesn't get the desired effect. If I ever see a coyote following us, I will give it all I've got! Remember, dogs and coyotes have much better hearing than humans! This would also serve as a very handy protection device for women walking alone, especially after dark.

This whistle is a solid choice. The stainless steel construction feels sturdy and durable, which is important for me since I'm pretty rough on equipment. The lanyard is handy and keeps it from getting lost. The sound is loud and clear, no problem getting everyone's attention. Overall, I'm happy with it.

I needed a bunch of whistles for my middle school faculty when they have recess duty. Last year I purchased a set of cheap whistles and found that the build quality was pretty awful, and the sound underwhelming. This here whistle is likewise inexpensive, but the quality is just fine. Makes a good loud noise, too. The whistles came sealed in individual wrapping, which people appreciated.

Well, it's a whistle and it works like it should. I appreciate the stainless steel; much improved over the plastic whistles. Just a little colder on the lips; should have expected that here in the Chicago area. The lanyard was a nice extra; some come without it and it's hard to find a lanyard that goes over the head easily. So far so good.

I work at an elementary school, and I have afternoon recess duty. I use this whistle when it's time for the students to line up, and it's SUPER loud -- when kids who are nearby see me lift it to my lips, they quickly cover their ears. It never fails to bring in every student, no matter how far away they are (our school property is pretty huge). I have no doubt this would be an effective whistle for pretty much anything you would need it for. I've had mine for over a year now, and it's held up beautifully with daily use. The cord it comes with is long and sturdy, and has survived being worn all day, five days a week, getting bumped around with the whistle and my ID badge attached. Sometimes it gets snagged on stuff, but is has never broken. Definitely great value for the money.

For my use, I certainly do no need a loud whistle. I bought this to give a warning to my girl scout group of 20 young girls when they get too loud or out of line. I wanted something that would be loud and get their attention. It does the job it needs to do, but my complaint is that you have to blow a certain way to get it to blow correctly. If you blow too hard, it actually barely blows and you can feel the little ball in there just jumping around. If you blow softly, it will whistle, but not real loud. You have to blow soft, but yet have enough air to create a loud whistle and if you blow too much then it cuts out. I guess I shouldn't have to worry about how to blow a whistle. . . I should be able to just blow into it and have it do its intended job. For the price, I cannot complain too much. If you need this for sports, I would look elsewhere.

This is a good loud inexpensive metal whistle on a cloth/string material thin lanyard. Its good for my purposes; calling children out playing who prefer to pretend they can't hear you and for my friend who's voice is literally too quiet to be heard from very far. Also good and loud for self protection. Does not have the yellow bead pictured. Seems durable and sturdy...only had them(bought 2) for a month and haven't needed to use it often, but it is not plastic! I have no complaints, and it arrived quickly If I could improve on it, I would make the lanyard adjustable in length and just a bit broader. The whistle has no sharp edges but could be a bit more blunt edged for wearing inside one's shirt. In conclusion, this is a good product that I would reccommend to those who are quiet voiced or impaired audibly insome way, to those desirous of a rape whistle, to campers and hikers, campus supervisors/yard duties, teachers, babysitters, scout leaders, and parents of roudy opportunistic sweet children.

Good value, very loud. I know that many will disagree with this practice and it's the first time I have used it. I bought this to get a telemarketer to quit calling me. This particular "Microsoft Technician" scam has been calling my cell phone for two years ......often in the middle of the night. Some of the "technicians" have been downright nasty. I am on the governments "Do Not Call List", have repeatedly asked them not to call me and I have dutifully reported these calls for two years. Unfortunately, the phone number is always a new number. I recently saw a television news piece that featured just how much of a problem these offshore calls have become. By the way, I don't own any Microsoft products. I bought this whistle to use when these scammers call me. I have used it twice now and the call frequency has decreased. Stay tuned.

I don't have any specific use in mind, probably mainly security, and for this the whistle seems perfectly adequate.
