We put these above an arch in front of our front door. The birds are currently sitting on the spikes .... :/ ..... laughing at me ...

This product is a joke. I used it to prevent the birds build a nest. The birds outsmarted the product and also me who fell for buying this product. They used the spikes as a support and built a nest inside and on top of it. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PRODUCT!!

These were a complete failure. As you can see from the attached image, the spikes not only did not stop the birds from perching on this ledge, the spikes actually provide a better nesting area for them. The birds land on top of the spikes (thanks to the little plastic nubs at the top) and then they drop their mud and debris into the spikes. The spikes also make it much more difficult to clean the ledge because the mud gets under the edges of the spike strips.
