Excellent overall. This item looks better in real life than it does in the pictures. Very realistic-looking skull without being made to look artificially terrifying. Simply looks like the real thing with nice detailing, only smaller and in stainless steel. Good bit of weight to it without pulling down on your neck. Keep in mind this review is for the small version. The medium, or the large, might be too heavy for some to wear for hours at a time. Originally bought the smallest of the three sizes as a gift for a female friend. Ended up liking it so much that I bought another one for myself. I haven't worn any sort of pendant in easily over a decade or two. Yes, that's how much I like this one. I examine gifts I buy before giving them to others.Just to be sure that there's nothing wrong with an item. And here we come to the main issue with this Men's pendant. The supplied bead chain is good enough to use and wear with the pendant.... if it was actually long enough. Too short. Far too short. No way for a man to slip this pendant over his head without using a short bead chain extension such as the type you get on a pair of military dog tags. Using one on the supplied chain to lengthen it, solves the problem. Keep in mind, it's a Men's pendant. It's not a choker. The skull should not be pressing up against your throat. The supplied bead chain would only be an ideal length if it was on a different type of pendant, placed around the neck of a somewhat older child. A smaller issue is the ring and mount on top of the skull for the chain to run through. On the small skull anyway, that ring is quite small. Yes, the supplied chain will fit; even after an extension is used. But, if you want to use a thicker bead chain, or perhaps a different style of chain that is thicker; forget it. I'd say the thickness of the supplied bead chain is the same as what you'd get in America on a pair of military dog tags. Nothing to write home about, not very exciting or stylish. But durable enough, as far as bead chains go. The mount itself looks sturdy enough. Again, at least as far as the small version goes. But only time will tell as it is worn on a regular basis for hours at a time, if the mount holds up. Some skull pendants have holes drilled across one end of the skull, to the other. Usually just above and across the eye-sockets. With a chain looped through the holes so it can be worn around the neck. Very secure. However, the overall look, design, weight, size and thickness of the small version are excellent. The little velvet pouch that comes with the pendant is quite nice too. The cons are worth dealing with. I would have given this product 5 stars, but the issue with the chain being far too short to fit over a man's head is one of those things that should have been noticed and corrected long ago. Neither of which at the time of this review has occurred. And to be honest, you shouldn't have to wait until you have some spare time to drive to the nearest Army/Navy Surplus store in your area to get a bead chain extension, before you can wear and enjoy your skull pendant after it arrives to your address. If you're considering buying a small skull pendant, I highly recommend giving this one a good look.
