Sounds better than my more expensive one!
First off, please know that this Kalimba is tuned to B-tone. You can still play songs that are in the more common tuned C-major Kalimbas. It has a deeper tone I actually like a lot. I immediately noticed how nice the sound is, the tines are not as stiff and even being a flat-board style, the volume is still very good and pleasing. It is made of eucalyptus wood, smooth with a nice scent. I imagine that will fade over time. I don't mind it at all. There are no number/letter stickers but they are etched into the keys and large enough to see well. I most likely will get some note stickers because I still am a newbie and prefer stickers. There is no case but it comes with a tuning hammer, cleaning cloth(a very nice one) a thin drawstring bag and a very good instruction booklet. For this price I'll gladly forgo a carrying case and note stickers! I'm really happy with this Kalimba!

fun toy
I bought this as a gift for a nephew to irritate my brother. It didn't work as my nephew had some talent and can now play this Kalimba very well. It is well made and sounds good if the person using it has some talent. I will have to buy my nephew something else to irritate my brother.

Better than others
I ordered this item after a long debate. At the same time I also ordered a different type because I wanted one sooner. This Kalimba has everything included, tuning hammer, velvet pouch, tassel and tether and a well fitting box with small song book. The item sounds better and will retain its sound better because it can be well protected when not in use. It also has the beautiful design on the face, its just a gorgeous piece. This item is very much worth the extra few days and dollars.

fun
This was in tune but does not include all the notes in an octave. It has left out notes F and B. I guess this is tuned for African tunes or just for percussion. You can retune to have all the notes but they won't match what is engraved on the tines. I looked at other 8 key kalimbas on Amazon and curiously they all seem to be this way. It has high and low C and hi and low A as well as 2 Gs. I don't know how to play that way but this was just a fidget toy for me anyway and i like how it sounds like an African rhythm so when i want to play real songs i turn to my 17 key kalimba.

You cannot beat gecko for quality
1st and foremost I got the camphor one and so it smells awesome when you open the Box! This being my 3rd gecko kalimba!! I was not surprised at the quality. Perfect if One wants to keep it in their pocket or bag...backpack close by and travel. Or it's perfect for little hands of children to learn to play. The sound quality is shocking like good for such a tiny item. You cannot go wrong with gecko

Difficult to play
Bought for 5 yr old. Difficult for him to pluck. I would have preferred doe ray me order. —high to low rather than a mix. Not easy to play by ear.Wood a bit rough to touch- I sanded lightly before giving it.Shape and packaging are nice. Maybe good product for some but I wouldn’t buy again.

Way better sound quality than expecting from a pocket sized Kalimba
My sister wanted a 21 key Kalimba for birthday present so I ordered the gecko 21 key made with camphor wood and she loved it. I took piano lessons 40+ years ago and taught piano. My musical instrument of choice was the Native American flute made of ash wood but after two injuries to my left hand I can no longer pla my instrument of choice.snapped ligamentsand broken left index fingerI watched my sister play the Kalimba so that Got me looking for a Kalimba small enough to play with one hand. So l bought this little 8 key version and the sound quality is much better than expected From such a tiny little Kalimba. VERY IMPRESSED.If you are interested in a Kalimba l can personally recommend the brand Gecko. I have also heard high praise for the brands Kimi, and linguTing

adorable instrument
I've been wanting to learn kalimba for a while and I was debating on which one to get. I'll admit I wound up picking this to start out with for its cute little tassle. You'll need something small like a paperclip to get it through the holes. There's 3 so you have the option for where to hang it. The kalimba is nice to hold though if you have large hands going for a 17 or 21 key is probably better. It came already tuned so its easy to jump right in. There's a few songs in the guide they give you. The titles are not in english but its numbered to match the key tabs on the kalimba. I'm so excited to learn! If you want a case that's more sturdy than the draw string pouch, hard drive cases are the right size for it.
