The plates have some odd characters on the bottoms. Do not say, made in …… Guessing oriental source, but that’s all I can offer. I do love them.

I believe manufactured in Japan. Written stamp on the bottom looks like Japanese characters.

Description gives both 3.94 × 0.8 in and also 4.72 × 5 × 2.76 in. Which is closer? How many ounces does it hold?

I gave these as a gift, so I can’t measure them, but they were quite small — I’d say the perfect size to use if you’re serving little snacks, cheese and crackers, or a couple of cookies. Too small for salad or regular dessert plates. These are plates, not glasses or cups or bowls, so ounces are really not relevant. Hope this helps!
