Standard Catalog of Vintage Football Cards Paperback – September 24, 2012

My name is Mike Bonner. I'm a football collector and a writer on the subject of American football cards. For over twenty years, I've been writing about football cards, covering their practical value and stirring sports romance. In my opinion, the FB card hobby that has taken a second place to baseball cards for too long a time.Along with my writing partner Carl Lamendola, I've produced over a hundred articles on American football cards, from the earliest "scraps" to the latest unique finds, such as our recent pieces in the magazine GRIDIRON GREATS, regarding the Lafayette College cards and the fabulously rare Tonawanda 'Jacks find of 2013.The question is, what reference book do I use when boning up on football cards previous to the pivotal hobby year of 1989? It's Krause Publication's STANDARD CATALOG OF VINTAGE FOOTBALL CARDS. My opinion is that this book is the definitive vintage hobby guide. It covers all the basics and then goes beyond.My only (mild) criticism is that there could be a larger number of card images included than the book has. Not every set has a sample.
