Great boba tea tapioca pearls!
These tapioca pearls cook up easily and fast, and are the perfect size for homemade boba tea! TL;DR - Excellent for the price, they all stayed in tact during shipping and arrived fast, and the only additional step aside from cooking them is to make a simple syrup mixture for them to absorb some flavor and to sweeten your tea!The instructions say to cook on low once they float to the surface for 5-10 minutes; I did this for the full 10 minutes, uncovered. It then instructed to put the lid on the pan and let them sit for 10 more minutes, but mine were done by the 5 minute mark so I removed them at that point to put in cold water to stop the cooking. I recommend having a small cup with cold water nearby as you’re cooking so you can drop one in to cool it off to check the chewiness as you go. The taste of the tapioca pearls by themselves isn’t really that sweet or flavorful, so I made a simple syrup with 1/2 c white sugar, 1/2 c water, and 3 tablespoons honey, and added my pearls to that mixture after soaking in cold water for a few mins. If you prefer a brown sugar flavor (or if you’re making brown sugar boba tea), you can make the simple syrup with 3/4 c brown sugar and 1 c water instead. I recommend letting them sit in the simple syrup for an hour, but I couldn’t wait so mine were only in there for 15 mins. They have an excellent chew though, which is half the draw to boba tea for me! The simple syrup step should probably be added to the instructions on the package because the pearls without this simple syrup aren’t the best tasting tbh.I made taro boba tea with 1 teaspoon unsweetened taro powder dissolved in 1/2 c black tea, pouring over a cup full of ice, adding a few tablespoons of boba/simple syrup for sweetness, and topped with some lactose free whole milk until it turned medium purple in color. I’ll probably dial back the amount of black tea or try green tea in the future for a lighter flavor. I made my kids a non-caffeinated version by dissolving the taro in hot water (vs tea) and they loved it! Overall highly recommend, easy to make, and the only modification is needing a simple syrup mixture for these little bobas to swim in!Edit: One additional tip — if you make all the boba pearls ahead of time and refrigerate the leftovers in the simple syrup mixture, be sure to do a quick reheat before using! I plucked out however many boba pearls I wanted and put in a microwave safe glass, added enough water just to cover, and microwaved for 30 seconds (until they got the “chew” back). You can then mix any powder you’re using directly in with the warm liquid and bobas to dissolve the powder, and the. top off with ice and milk.

Great boba but subtle flavor
I ordered 2 packs of this boba and neither of the packages were messed up in any way. The boba pearls we luckily not crushed, which I have experienced before with other brands. When I cooked the boba I did it on high for 3-5 mins with the lid on(Make sure that the pearls are floating before starting the timer). They were perfectly chewy but they didn’t have much flavor. I had to soak them in brown sugar syrup which gave it the perfect flavor. I recommend this boba, but just beware that the flavor is unnoticeable. I would also recommend placing the boba in cold water before soaking it in brown sugar syrup. Hope this helps!

Perfect Boba. Order these.
I hardly ever rate my purchases, much less write reviews, but this is an impressive product. I got my daughter a boba tea kit for Christmas, but the pearls weren’t very good. They were crumbling into bits and pieces which turned into mush. So I read reviews on Amazon to find some real boba pearls to try. These are gorgeous. They’re perfectly round, and I didn’t see any crumbs or broken pieces. They fluffed up beautifully. It’s not true that they’re “ready in 5 minutes”. They need to come to a boil, rise to the top, and then simmer for 5-10 minutes. Then they need to sit in the pot with the heat off and a lid on for another ten minutes. Then they need a cold rinse, and if you want them to taste like they do in the shops, they need to soak in a syrup for a while, otherwise they’ll be flavorless. Getting cold gives them their trademark chewiness, so the longer they soak in the syrup, the better.I found a recipe for brown sugar syrup (just equal parts brown sugar and water, simmered until reduced) and I added a teaspoon of vanilla and a tablespoon of molasses to mine. DIVINE. Dump your rinsed pearls into this syrup and let soak for at least 2-3 hours. Make a pitcher of strong black tea and make sure you have half-and-half, and you’ll have everything ready to make quick, decent boba teas at home.

Lacks flavor
They are an unflavored tapioca ball, they are chewy, but have no flavor.

Perfect for boba milk
Easy to make it has the chewy texture I love. Don’t over cook. It takes 5 mins in boiling water. I bought the 2 pk this time because last time 8 oz only lasted a week.

Front of package says "ready in 5 minutes", instructions on back says 30-40 minutes
As the photos indicate, the listing even said ready in 5 minutes. However, once I got the product and read the directions, it takes much longer.1. Bring water to boil (5 min)2. Add boba and stir gently nonstop until all the boba float (8-10 min)3. When the pearls float, turn heat to low and continue to cook for (5-10 min)4. Turn off the heat and keep lid on for another (10 min)5. Remove boba from pot and raise it in cold water to achieve chewiness (5 min)This is why no photo of the back of the package is provided on purposeBrown sugar flavor, but there is 0 sugars if we are going by the nutritional facts.¡Update! The calories and carbs on the listing are different than what's on the actual package. It also says made in China. Which isn't necessarily a problem, but I'm more worried about that being the reason that the nutritional info is incorrect. It could be the person who translated the packaging didn't correctly write it down. We don't know what's actually in this. But I made a batch of Boba and the next morning had extreme GI distress.
