From the Big Apple to the Big Easy: The Concert for New Orleans

Disk 1 is a great concert recording of some incredible performances. Disc 2 is a lot of Jimmy Buffet doing what he does so well but audio and video is lesser quality but still good performance on a standard for the 1980’s before high resolution became the standard.

I was at this event also, and this two-DVD set wonderfully captures the excitement of the night.In particular, I'm delighted to hear the intricacies of the brass bands playing, which were somewhat lost in the din at the Garden that night.Other highlights for me include, yes, the great John Fogerty, although his voice deserts him on "Born on the Bayou"; the Dixie Cups doing "Iko"; Clarence "Frogman" Henry; Irma Thomas singing the original "Time Is on My Side"; Elton John doing "Levon"; Simon & Garfunkel doing "Mrs. Robinson", "Homeward Bound", and especially "Bridge Over Troubled Water" with the incredible Aaron Neville assisting; the Meters doing "Pocky Way"; and again Aaron Neville signing the most exquisite version of "Amazing Grace" I've ever heard.As another reviewer said, you can't go wrong buying this set, as all proceeds are supposed to go to Katrina victims.I am, however, deducting one star because of the "Buffet surfeit" here. Really -- with Fogerty, Elton, and S&G in the house, six songs by this one-hit wonder is about five songs too much, and it was a problem at the concert as well, although there were more than enough parrotheads present that night to lap it up.

Love everything about it

There is nothing not to like as it is one of the best Blues collections I've seen. Irma Thomas singing Backwater Blues, with tears running down her face, sums up the tragedy that was Katrina. If you like the Blues, you must have this set. There are two dvd's and plenty of music to satisfy anyone. Simon, Garfunkel and Aaron Neville singing Bridge Over Troubled Waters will bring tears to your eyes. All together a very special collection for the very special people of the very special N'Orleans.

The best of the New Orleans that is gone forever. The city still exists in a new form. What that brings is for the future to see. This video is the city I knew and loved forever.

The music is great. The dvd was delivered in a timely fashion. and there it all falls apart! This product was promoted as being: 'VERY GOOD'.This is a 2 disc dvd. Disc 1 skipped or froze 4-6 times. Disc 2 did the same 3-4 times. Were this dvd described as 'iffy' I would not have bothered purchasing.I would not purchase from this seller again and I would warn others from it as well.

I collect Ry Cooder material. Some good stuff in here.
