I read this to myself every night before bed, not because I’m a child, but because Goodnight Moon is a meditative reflection on the impermanence of life. The quiet acknowledgment of objects, only to bid them farewell, serves as a gentle reminder that all things, be they kittens, mittens, or even the reassuring presence of a quiet old lady whispering “hush” are fleeting.Through poetic simplicity, it forces us to confront our own mortality while embracing the peace of the present. Every night, I close this book with a tear in my eye and the crushing weight of existential understanding in my heart. 10/10, would recommend.

This is a true classic that I raised my five kids with. It is the origin of the saying "cow jumping over the moon". Great put-them-to-sleep book.
