Liberty Garden Products 703-S2 Hose Reel, Stainless

Shiny clean stainless steel hose holder looks like it just came off a luxury sailboat. Craftsmanship and parts are way above the traditional plastic holders. Plus it works! Sturdy construction and smooth rolling make use of this equipment a breeze. A bit pricey, but then you get what you pay for.

I purchased this hose reel and installed it. First, I found that it was virtually impossible to hook a hose to it without a swiveling elbow, not included. Even then it is not easy as you have to thread the hose in a way that is really not easy or desirable. Next thing is that the clutch mechanism is useless and the hose will just unreel itself unless you jam something to stop it. five months after installing it, the reel has become spotted with rust and looks like, well, not good. I think it is solid and it will last but it does not work well and does not look like a quality item. I picked up a plastic reel for my other hose at a big box for 50 bucks that I like way better.I can not recommend this item.

First off the product I ordered was not what I received. The model shown in the picture(MODEL 703-S2) by the seller was an old model that has not been produced for over three years(contacted Liberty Gardens to confirm this). A refund of the difference was offered due to the new style(MODEL 709-S2) being cheaper. I have to say the quality is not what I expected for the price. The SS is quite thin and the sides of the reel have very sharp edges from the stamping process. These need to be deburred. I was cut twice while I was mounting the reel. I sanded the reel so it does not happen to anyone else. Time will tell how this will hold up.

It's a great hose reel and, because it's made of 304 stainless, is quite pricey but I don't like the idea of rust.Update 7/6/2016: Unfortunately, I have to downgrade my original review because the stainless steel hose reel has started to rust on the base plate as well as the two wheel parts of the reel itself. I am in contact with the manufacturer and will continue to post our findings.

Solid hose reel. Comes with rubber studs/feet for using on ground, but honestly I wouldn’t bother. It would be unstable pulling the hose out. To get the best performance from this hose reel, mount it to a solid surface. I mounted mine underneath a fish cleaning table on a saltwater dock. None of the connectors leaked. There have been minor rust spots appearing but I empahasize minor. Rust remover and protectant quickly resolves that if it bothers you. It appears the units are hand crafted, and mine had a slight wobble to it hence the 4 stars and not 5. Regardless, this is a rugged hose reel that will last significantly longer than the plastic ones that get brittle and break in the hot sun. The only thing I would change, and did.... is the screw and nut used for the handle which were not stainless.

Little pricey but pre-zaktly what the old guy wanted...happy camper, works great...the stainless is holding up nicely in our NW rainy weather...

Bought the stainless one. It looks good from a distance but all the steel is poorly tack welded together and the drum wasn't centered before it was welded. As a result the whole thing wobbles. The round bar on the outside edges has a kink where the bending was done poorly and the spokes are made of too thin a metal along with the rest of it causing the welds to be more like spots that have been melted through. This thing is crazy expensive with shoddy workmanship and it looks like crap up close.

The product did not meet my expectations as it is not like the online photo. The spokes on the reel in the photo are large, but in actuality they are thin like a pencil lead. the welds are poor and the grinding to clean up the welds are very poorly done.The transition from the water supply to the hose reel is also pooly engineered and their solution is not a good one. The manafacturer needs to address this. Product is made in China.I kept it and installed it for my father for Fathers Day. WE'll see how it holds up.I would not suggest this product to others.
