Jolly Phonics Little Word Books: In Print Letters (Ae)

Jolly phonics is an outstanding structured reading program. It does, however, help for parents (who are not primary teachers) to have some training when using the phonics workbooks, readers and the jolly phonics kit. Most discouraging reviews would be due to this lack of training. I am a primary teacher and I have found the whole jolly phonics program to be a dynamic, multi sensory and utterly fun experience for children. I have used it from prep to Grade 4.

These have been a good introduction to phonics for my kid. The illustrations are nice and the words are well-placed so that it is not obvious which picture the word relates to. This prevents children from simply saying what they see instead of genuinely attempting to read the word. The only drawback is that the books aren't really stories so they are pretty dry. This hampers motivation a bit.

Love these. It reinforces the core of Jolly Phonics. The imagery and lettering have been well received by my students.
