Is the background clear? Meaning the words are in color, but the background is clear & my surface underneath will show through?

Background is very clear if you're placing on a wall that is clear (not w/designs) Here's my previous comment from 2016: I just the love the Lord's prayer decal. I placed it onto my kitchen wall and it perfectly compliments the whole kitchen. It was easy to install. Just follow a few simple instructions as provided and everything will turn out fine. Since the package is rolled (like a poster) I strongly recommend flattening before placing on wall. That way the the letters won't stick to the paper or tear. Also, after you have placed the decal on the wall desired, press alongside on the paper again ensuring the decal is firmly placed, "GENTLY" peel protective film and enjoy the artwork. Note: I read the complaints. Do not rush! If you want something to look nice, put forth the time to make it so. ;)

Can this be used in an apartment? Will it come off without damaging the walls?

I believe so. They come off pretty easy when you try. I have taken several different ones down and they have never come close to damaging the walls.

The lord's prayer on this is wrong. it is "forgive our debts" not trespasses. check the lords prayer in matthew 6:12 and compare. can it be corrected?

Forgive us of our debts as we forgive our debtors Forgive us of our trespass as we forgive those who trespass against us. Must everything be turned into a debate. Religion is what you believe. You don’t have to point it out and state this is wrong because this is BEAUTIFUL!! I love it. Look for something that you like and prefer.
