Welding over a decade
So I've been welding over 10 years now.I own the Lincoln 3350. Miller Digital Elite. Jackson Safety and so on.I've recently started using fixed shades and different hoods since I'm planning to make some employment changes. This is officially my go to. I know I just got it(the hard hat combo to noted as well) but I used it today doing what I do. I dont plan on going back to previous hoods. This lid is strong. Durable. Simple to be used and operate. The lens that came with it is an awesome plus. I expected good old green. More towards crimson. I could practically see the arcs dancing on the tungsten. The fitting is solid. The hard hat part at least since i have the mount but not the headgear(yet)Its a bit heavy on a 12 hour day but I wouldnt trade that out. To me thats strength and conditioning on my end. Comfort is mild but not a headache. Then again. I've only used 2 hoods that were really comfortable, so I may be spoiled.But. To anyone who wants a well rounded helmet. This is it.*To all new welders reading this*This is a great starting hood as well. It may take practice getting used to but dont forget your lens flips up and down. You're not always dark 😆But i plan on buying some auto lens in all this. But this is it. Another thing for new welders to consider is...sure. it doesn't have a massive auto lens like a miller or Lincoln, but I can tell you from experience that its not always worth it. I've worked in some tight and complex places. Even welded and used a mirror to do do. Due to some of my angles, my auto lens arc sensors didnt always sense the arc. So id be blinded part of my weld and running off of small squint visions and instant picture memory of were the metal is being fused. The shape and size of these lens make it much easier to detect an arc if you choose to run with an auto on this hood.I hope you guys choose this hood. Good. Dependable. Sturdy. Cant beat it.

Cant beat these old tiger hoods
Great quality, I beat the crap out of mine everyday and it just doesn’t care. Get some good aluminum screws, the plastic ones strip out. Also get a good leather or cloth headband for the best comfort

Great hood, needs third party aluminum hardware, beware of plastic fragility.
Union Ironworker -This hood is pretty decent for the price. The lens it comes with is a standard shade 10 that performs well for 1/8 and 5/32 stick. I haven’t burned wire with this hood and I did add a tradesmen auto darkening 2x4 drop in right away which I also like very much.My only problem with this hood is the plastic hardware that fastens the headgear to the hood. It won’t allow you to tighten it enough to get it from dropping onto your face when you need it to remain up. I bought third party aluminum hardware and added a small amount of medium strength locktite and that has helped tremendously. With the new aluminum hardware I was able to tighten the halo position more but it also led to a small crack in the side of the hood forming. This could be from getting bumped on my head or in a gang box while being stored too. Either way, be aware that the plastic does have the ability to crack especially in low temperatures like we experience in Denver.Overall I recommend this hood to other Ironworkers and tradesman who weld. Spending $300 on a hood set up that will absolutely get beat up working in the conditions my trade presents did not appeal to me. This was a solid alternative.

Basic tuff hood.
My go to hood. Durable, basic. You can get optional auto dark lense for this if you look around. Been using this hood for 18 years. It has never let me down. There are other hoods out there but this one has never let me down. You can also find parts for these at reasonable prices. Would I buy again? Yep.

Junk
I have been a welder all my whole career of 40 years. I have also used these welding hoods all my career. By far this is the worst one I have bought. The flip up lenses is so tight it will lift the hood off of your head. The head gear will not tighten on the hood. The head gear has also fell apart while using it.
