I haven't seen many electric inserts to say how this compares for realism. I do know that the top-rated inserts are much more expensive, and that this insert is both well-made and it looks surprisingly good both for the fire effect and the hardware. The glass door panels along with the mesh screens add add substance and realism. The look of the fire is good enough that I feel "placebo" heat when it's on. The built in heater can take the edge off the chill if our small living room is feeling cool. The one weakness for me is the fire sound effects. The sounds are too high-pitched and too metallic sounding to my ear (like sound within an oil drum). I'm sure that the speaker is pretty tiny and therefore "tinny". The quitest of the availale sounds is acceptable, but I prefer to turn the sound off. I did need to use some 1/4" thick plastic spacers to get the face frame to line up with the tile surface of our mantel, but since the insert is relatively light and there's no heat to worry about, you can do any needed shimming easily.

We have a wood burning fireplace in our condo and it's not the best to use. It's dirty, smokey, and you are pretty committed once you start it. I am so happy we found this fake fire place. It fits and works perfectly. It was nicely packaged and it shipped super fast. I like the different flame and sounds options. The heat option is really quiet (I don't think we will use it often). The fake fire effect gives me Pirates of the Caribbean vibes from Disneyland (the ride), which makes me love it more. It seems to be really well built and hopefully it lasts a long time. The remote is super easy to use as well.

I had an Amazon gift card to help with cost and decided on this model with mostly excellent reviews. I'm so glad I chose this one! First, it arrived several days earlier than the estimated delivery date, yay!! It came extremely well-packed and was easy to unbox and locate all the essentials. It is sturdy, made with metal and glass, so I wasn't nervous about handling it to get it unpacked and positioned in my fireplace. I knew some minor prep was needed because the best-fitting unit was a little short for my fireplace opening. I cut a 2x4 board segment and sprayed it flat black (and added another short piece behind it for a level base) to sit under the flat bottom. This easy fix works and blends in perfectly. Also, I needed the power cord to extend from the left side to reach the nearest outlet, and there was plenty space behind the housing to conceal most of a 6ft heavy-duty extension cord. The front trim is perfect and I half-expected the little grate that covers the controls to be plastic, but it is metal like all the black trim. I was so excited to get it plugged in....and yes, the "fire" is remarkably satisfying. While it's true it won't fool many (I grew up with a wood burner), it's easy, clean, safe, non-smelly, and gives a cozy ambiance to the room. There are enough crackle sound choices to find one to suit me and while I don't use the heat function, it's nice to have the option. There is a low hum to the unit when it is running, even without the fan going, but I already don't notice it anymore. I've had it almost a month now and I still LOVE it. My mom visited the first afternoon it was in and thought I'd had gas logs installed, lol. She was pretty impressed it was electric and a total illusion! The details that really sell it are the nice glass doors and the little safety chain curtain that looks far superior to the flat glass panel on the front of other models/brands. Noting another buyer's concern about the unit tipping out when glass doors are open, I used a bead of hot glue to secure the top edge trim to the tile behind it. My plan B was to apply a couple strips of extra strength velcro, but the glue appears to be doing the trick. Plus, there's been no need to open the glass doors once installed. Here's hoping this wonderful fireplace insert lasts for many seasons.

I’m very satisfied with the seller and was so pleasantly surprised with how quickly this product arrived. It was boxed very well. They went above and beyond with packaging & ensuring it arrived in tip top shape.. Which we appreciate immensely. As we took a chance on this purchase as we have purchased another FP on Amazon (in the past and NOT with this specific seller) that did not work out so well. This right here, though, exceeded our expectations and I’m so glad we took the chance. It’s been about a month since our purchase & we are very happy! It keeps the house nice and cozy and helps us save a little bit on oil. The electricity really didn’t go up for us at all. Even though we use quite frequently since purchase. Honestly, buy this if you’re thinking of adding a little warmth & coziness to your space. We just finished building the surround for it and the insert is a PERFECT fit. Very satisfied. We would definitely buy again. 100% recommend! I love the chain screen it just gives this a little touch of charm and just makes it seem a little more realistic. The flames and crackle are nice and I love the option to control the volume of the crackle. It offers a subtle flame change also. I’m truly pleased. The simplicity of the remote is great for me, as I’m happy with less buttons. It’s functional, efficient, practical, cozy, easy to use and overall a great buy. If there has to be one thing wrong with it, I haven’t found it. Honestly. It’s awesome. I’m very happy with this product, from purchase to delivery to everyday use.
