Worth the cost... and will be the last blow dryer you will ever purchase!
Absolutely the best blow dryer I have ever used or owned. The cost of the product seems VERY high, however this is absoluty a product that you get what you pay for. I’ve used it on my natural hair and it was insanely fast at drying my hair along with staying at a temperature that has never burned my scalp or my hair. I’ve had tape in extensions and now sewn in extension over the last 6 years and this blow dryer is by far the best I’ve ever used when it comes to extensions as well. Everything above applies with my extensions, if not it seems to have been made for every type of hair real, fake or whatever the texture or kind of hair anyone was born with, purchased, real or fake. I’ve even used it in my fun wigs I wear on occasion when I feel like changing up my hair and it is the only blow dryer that I’ve ever owned that hasn’t ruined any wig I’ve owned either. It is extremely durable, I’ve dropped it many times, the parts are easily applied or removed for the tip of the dryer as well. Also very light in weight, and travels better than any other hair tools I pack. Definite worth it. I will only own this blow dryer now that I know how great it really is!

Things to know before you buy
Be aware that this particular unit is coming from Japan and conforms to the Japanese market and power requirements. All the manuals and documentation and everything written on the box is in Kanji, so if your Japanese is rusty, you are going to have to figure it all out yourself. Also, the unit is NOT happy running on US 120V power even though the plug fits a standard US receptacle. The unit will quickly notice what it considers to be an overvoltage condition and shut itself down before you even get a chance to hold it up to your head. To get this to work reliably in the US, you will need a 120V to 100V converter or transformer rated at 1200 watts or higher. I can't even find such a thing on Amazon..... I did finally find a suitable transformer on Amazon (Search for the ACUPWR AJD-1400) which is not cheap but works perfectly and reliably. Once it is paired with an appropriate power source, the Dyson hairdryer is a joy to use. It is amazingly light and maneuverable. It is not exactly quiet, but easily only makes about half the level of sound that the average hairdryer puts out. You can hold a conversation with someone while using it without having to shout. The quality and engineering of the unit are truly amazing. It lives up to the hype, in my opinion. If you absolutely cannot wait until September to get your hands on one in the USA, this is your only option and it will cost you a pretty penny.

Sweet baby James, it actually works.
I have slightly wavy, very fine but extremely thick (as in, individual strands are fine, but I have a very high density of individual hairs on my head, and, no, the hairs being fine doesn't seem to make it dry any faster), waist length hair that I blunt cut because only a sociopath would put layers in hair this thick. I've tried porcelain dryers, tourmaline dryers, blow dry accelerants, microfiber towels... it still keeps me around 40 minutes to blow dry it completely (I admit my skill set is lackluster, as I so seldom bother to blow dry it at all). The lady who cuts my hair has a flag on my account so that when I schedule an appointment, they add an extra 15 minutes to the standard 1 hour appointment so she can have enough time to dry it (she is faster than I am, maybe 20-30 minutes for her, I've never actually timed it). She always asks if I want her to take weight out of my hair (basically drag the scissor edge through it to thin it out to normal-person thickness; I do not do this). Once, when I was at a hair salon as a first time customer to get a trim, the stylist realized she'd never get my hair dry in time for her next appointment, so she recruited one of the other stylists to blow dry my hair with her-- one on each side of me, blow drying simultaneously. Hopefully I've illustrated my point sufficiently. I deliberated about this thing for a while. I essentially don't ever blow dry my hair because it takes so long. The, "I went from 15 minutes to 5 minutes," people, the normal-range hair thickness ones, the ones who think that shoulder-length hair is long hair-- they don't understand what it's like for girls like me. I am not interested in what they have to say about a hair dryer. A girl I worked with owned this and said it dried faster, but she has shoulder length hair that is maybe 1/4 as thick as mine. I remained skeptical. I left most of the packing intact when I finally bought it, fully expecting to have to return it after verifying that it does not work for my hair. With this dryer, my hair was completely dry in less than 15 minutes (approximately 13). It doesn't feel fried or damaged. It put off less heat (though still enough for me to sweat a bit) than my old dryer. It is quieter than normal dyers. I'm not proud of the fact that I now own a $400 hair dryer (with a $50 carrying case to protect it), but... I'm not giving this thing up. Now to see if it stops working after 6 months...

Amazing product
I got this for a birthday gift from my wife. It is amazing. It dries my hair quicker than any hairdryer I have ever used. I love the ability to adjust the temp of the heat with multiple options. This is a novel function. Like most hairdryers you can also adjust the power of the drying function. With other hairdryers I have used the highest power but this one I only need the 2nd to the highest power. There are 2 small features I think they could improve on slightly. Neither would impact my decision to buy this product again. One is that on 2-3 occasions my finger has accidentally hit the power button when blow drying my hair. This is out of the numerous times I've used it so not a big deal but could be something they address in a future version. I have larger hands so it may not be an issue for someone with average or smaller hands. The other is the power cord is substantially longer than I need. So to keep it from getting everywhere I have tied it up. The only downside is that it creates a heavier cord that i have to hold up while using the hairdryer. It is a very light hairdryer so I lose some of the benefit of the lightness by dealing with the cord. Neither of these 2 issues would in any way prevent me from purchasing this again.

Amazing hairdryer
I’ve always used inexpensive hairdryers bought at Target. When I purchased and used this one I was blown away. It’s lightweight, the air flow is strong and temperature is hot but doesn’t burn your hair. I used the concentrator end to style my hair and it took only one run at each hair section to get silky shiny styled locks. With the other inexpensive ones, it took 2 to 3 runs sometimes to get the result and often my hair looks frizzy. With this one there is no frizz what so ever. As I live in extreme humid weather I often struggle with frizzy hair and nothing’s works. I was considering keratin treatment to battle the frizz. With Dyson my hair did NOT get super frizzy. It still looks nice after a day out in the humid heat. I think it is because Dyson doesn’t completely suck the moisture out of the hair with extreme heat. So I got beautiful beach waves with no frizz. I don’t need keratin treatment that cost $300 and last 6 months max, anymore. this hairdryer is absolutely the best! It’s a great investment worth’s every penny. Why didn’t I used it before & wasted all this time damaging my hair?😢. Thank you Dyson for great product! 10 stars out of 5! LOVE it.

Dyson Hair Dryer - First Review of My Purchase
I'm calling this the first review of my purchase because I just got it delivered yesterday and I have only used it once but if the first time is any indication of how this hair dryer is going to perform then I have died and gone to hair dryer heaven!! The reason I am saying that this is my first review is because I want to reserve the right to return later and post updates in the event it really is too good to be true. I have read a few other reviewers that have said their hair dryer stopped working in a short amount of time. Also, I owned a Dyson vacuum cleaner and took very good care of it only to have it stop working shortly after a year of owning it and OF COURSE I couldn't find my warranty information so that was my loss. But I don't feel at the price one pays for Dyson products that they should stop working in such a short amount of time especially if proper care has been given. Hence I am reserving the right for later posts. Ok...moving along to the review of the hair dryer. Again, I am in hair dryer heaven!! I have read some reviews that the dryer wasn't worth the price but for me it was worth every single penny and then some!!! I have long hair (well below the shoulders) and I color it and put highlights in it and lately it had begun to frizz and look dull. After my first use it was like night and day. My hair was so soft and shiny with absolutely no frizz. It literally looked as though I had just had it professionally done. My typical dry time can take a little more than 10 minutes but with the Dyson it was about 5 minutes. And unlike other hair dryers that can make you hot I did not get heated at all!! I live in Florida and dreaded doing my hair in the summer because of the heat most hair dryers put out. This hair dryer doesn't do that. I am absolutely thrilled with this hair dryer and while I realize it is ridiculously expensive I am a firm believer in you-get-what-you-pay-for. This time I have registered my Dyson warranty (and yes you get a warranty even if you purchase it on Amazon) and put it in a safe place just in case. I am really hoping I won't need it but I'll let y'all know in a future post if I do. Otherwise, I highly recommend this purchase. It truly lives up to the hype!!!!!!

Awesome dryer but awful high-pitched noise
Let me start off by saying this is the Ferrari of hairdryers. In the past, I've usually gone with mid-range dryers and received mid-range performance as expected. I've been eyeing this one for the last few years but couldn't quite bring myself to pull the trigger because of the price. However, I couldn't pass up this one, courtesy of a warehouse deal. Pros -Drying time - My personal favorite--This thing cuts my drying time in half, and when you have two little children, this is HUGE. -Attachments - I looovveee the magnetic attachments. Every other dryer I've owned requires jamming the attachments on the dryer and struggling to get it off when you are done with it. This one is strong enough to stay attached when I want to yet easy enough to remove when I'm done. -Cord Strength - Is it a dryer cord or a heavy duty drop cord? It could go either way, but I know I won't be tearing up the cord, barring a bizarre chainsaw accident. This thing is sturdy and has extra protection where it joins the actual dryer. -Accessories - The no-slip pad was a bit of a surprise. I found myself thinking why in the world would I need that? My friends, when you purchase a quality machine, you don't want to risk it sliding off the counter. Cons -Price - This shouldn't come as a shocker. If you're reading this trying to justify spending this much on a dryer, you already were aware of this one. -Sound - This thing is supposedly quieter than other dryers. Don't get me wrong; it's definitely not as loud, but the sound it makes is a high-pitched noise that dredges up terrifying memories of a dentist's drill. When I first turned it on, I thought surely this was an issue with the dryer itself. After researching it a bit, this is a common theme. The digital motor is supposed to emit a sound that's above what most people can hear, unless you have sensitive hearing. Apparently both my husband and I have sensitive hearing. The good news is it's less noticeable on a higher air flow setting. If not, I would have to return it since that noise hurts my ears. -Button Location - I'm sure a lot of money went into the design of this dryer, but it appears that more energy was given to form than function when it comes to the button locations. The on/off switch and the cool air button are where they should be, but if I want to change the air flow or the temperature, they're awkwardly placed. I can't just easily change it at this point. Maybe this will change over time. Only time will tell if my hair's shine and overall health improves, but with the decrease in drying time, which means less heat exposure, I expect to see some improvement. The cons are enough to drop it one star, but overall I'm happy with it so far.

Efficiency at its best!
I live in a humid climate so drying my hair is a miserable sweaty experience! I often feel as if I have to wash and dry my hair so much to avoid the friz that I was worrying I was ruining my hair. I saw this at a store and mentioned to my husband that it would be a dream to have since all the other Dyson products we have are easy to use and do the job well. The dryer is lightweight, incredibly easy to hold (I have long hair), powerful, and quiet! There is a bit of a learning curve when using it for the first time, and the most important one is that it is powerful! I was so used to using the high heat setting on my old hair dryers (getting rid of friz!) that I just assumed I should with this one too. Not so. Once I turned down the heat and speed, I was thrilled with the results. My hair feels healthy and I can go many days without having to wash (remember humid climate so this is a big deal!). I work out often so my hair gets sweaty, but I have found that I can just dry my hair quickly to reset. It is really easy to clean and I don't get hair stuck in the intake. Now for the cons: Bulky Cord: The cord is pretty substantial and it is hard to store. Seriously, this part doesn't bother me (and I live in a small house!). The other hair dryers are large and cumbersome too. Eventually, Dyson will figure out how to have the cord plug in and charge like our phones. Cost: It is hard to justify this because only time will tell. This is new technology so I am assuming it will improve and become more mainstream, therefore, lowering the cost. BUT, right now, this item is worth it!
